The Best of Brought To Life - 248

1. THE LOADED FORTY FOURS - 'Thunderbirds (Are Go)' - X-S 7" - UK - 1981
One of many songs in praise of Gerry Anderson puppets. All of them are winners. Go figure.
2. THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS - 'I Hate My Job' - Ward 9 LP - USA - 1983
My first introduction to the legendary Buttholes, from 'Cottage Cheese From The Lips Of Death', a Texas sampler.
3. HORIZONTAL BRIAN - 'Dim Headlights' - Gold Mountain LP - USA - 1983
From a relatively unknown but rather good album called 'Vertical'.
4. NO FUN - 'I Invented Myself' - Werewolf T-shirts cassette - Canada - 1982
'Ghost Paper Boy In Robin's Gay Trailer Park'. One of the best album titles ever.
5. IQ ZERO - 'Insects' - Object 7" - UK - 1979
From their first E.P. from the bowells of Blackburn. This is what they do out there.
6. THE LIME SPIDERS - 'Slave Girl' - Citadel 7" - Australia - 1984
I didn't care much for their albums but they had some cracking singles.
7. THE SPIFFS - 'Kill You' - Industry Insulting 7" - USA - 1980
Another underrated and relatively unknown record, the 'Don't Waste Your Money On This Garbage' E.P. - their sole release. From Phoenix, Arizona.
8. THE PORNO SPONGES - 'Going Places, Eating Things' - Mutha 12" - USA - 1986
Another sole release, a 12" single. From Rhode Island.
9. MYDOLLS - 'Soldiers Of A Pure War' Ward 9 LP - USA - 1983
A second track from 'Cottage Cheese From The Lips Of Death'. I'll include some of their 7"/E.P. tracks on the next comp.
10. EDITH NYLON - 'Tank' - CBS LP - France - 1979
This is from their self-titled debut album.
11. SNAKE-OUT - 'Scary Mary' - Wanghead LP - USA - 1985
Cramps-esque psychobilly from their debut album 'Gollywobblers From Hell'.
12. HORIZONTAL BRIAN - 'Over We Go Lightly' Gold Mountain LP - USA - 1983
A second track from 'Vertical'.
13. IQ ZERO - 'Crazy Dolls' - Phoney-Gran 7" - UK - 1980
The superior flipside of second single 'She's So Rare'.
14. THE SPIFFS - 'Space Age Laser' Industry Insulting 7" - USA - 1980
Another cool track from 'Don't Waste Your Money . . .'
15. NO FUN - 'Modigliani' Werewolf T-shirts cassette - Canada - 1982
'Ghost Paper Boy In Robin's Gay Trailer Park' strikes again.
16. THE LIME SPIDERS - 'Out Of Control' Citadel 7" - Australia - 1984
Their third single. Nice riffage.
17. HORIZONTAL BRIAN - 'Trouble Outside' Gold Mountain LP - USA - 1983
Ska-tastic stuff from that underrated album 'Vertical'.
18. JOHNNY THUNDERS - 'You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory' - Real LP - USA - 1978
A heartbreaking classic (no pun intended).
19. THE NOVA BOYS - 'Death In A Dress' - Positive Charge 12" - USA - 1984
Another Arizona band - from their sole E.P.
20. PRENATAL LUST - 'Entertainment Tonight' Ward 9 LP - USA - 1983
Heavy on the distortion, just how we like it. From 'Cottage Cheese . . .'
21. EDITH NYLON - 'Etre Automatique' CBS LP - France - 1979
A second track from their self-titled debut album.
22. HORIZONTAL BRIAN - 'Walking Wild-Eyed' Gold Mountain LP - USA - 1983
And a fourth from 'Vertical'.
23. NO FUN - 'Back To Normal' Werewolf T-shirts cassette - Canada - 1982
Who needs a bass guitar? Another goodie from 'Ghost Paper Boy In Robin's Gay Trailer Park'.
24. RABID RABBIT - 'Drag Girl' - Jack Black LP - USA - 1987
Great name for an average band. This is the standout track from their sole album 'Technicolor Yawn'.
25. NOT FOR SALE - 'Bread And Bombs' Ward 9 LP - USA - 1983
And another from 'Cottage Cheese From The Lips Of Death'.
