The Best of Brought To Life - 137

1. LIPSTICK KILLERS - 'Hindu Gods Of Love' - Lost In Space 7" - Australia - 1979
Formed from the ashes of the Psycho Surgeons, this Aussie psyche band moved to L.A. for a year but nothing happened so they split for a while. It's got a slight dropout at 0:49 but it's the only rip I have. Deal with it.
2. LAST STAND - 'Just A Number' - Silly Symbol 7" - UK - 1981
Sole single. 500 pressed. Heartless (but good) powerpop from Bromsgrove.
3. RUEFREX - 'Capital Letters' - Kabuki 7" - UK - 1983
Originally spelled Roofwrecks, y'know. This second 7" was released years after their Good Vibrations debut, but it's louder and punker and all the better for it.
4. T.S.O.L. - 'American Zone' - Enigma LP - USA - 1984
From third album 'Change Today', the first release with Joe Wood on vocals. The music went in a different direction but they could still write a good song.
5. ACCIDENT ON THE EAST LANCS - 'We Want It Legalised' - Roach 7" - UK - 1979
From their debut single, out of Rochdale. The 'East Lancs' is a road between Liverpool and Manchester. They were potheads, hence the accident.
6. BETONG HYSTERIA - 'Snuten Kommer' - Mind Expanding 7" - Norway - 1982
From their sole E.P. 'Spontan Abort'.
7. THE MIRRORS - 'Out Of Order' - Gozira 7" - Japan - 1979
Second single. There's a retro CD out there called 'Real State' on Japanese label 'Captain Trip'. Good luck with that one.
8. THE BTP FOLDERS - 'Radio' - Future Earth 7" - UK - 1980
Sole single. Powerpop heaven.
9. THE WEIRDOS - 'Teenage' - Demo - USA - 1978
One of their earlier recordings. Available on the 'Weird World Volume One' CD.
10. ACCIDENT ON THE EAST LANCS - 'Back End Of Nowhere' - Roach 7" - UK - 1980
Second single. Search out the 'Shotguns and Hotshots' album which contains most of their stuff.
11. THE ZEROS - 'Getting Nowhere Fast' - Test-Tube 7" - USA - 1980
From their third 7" - the superior flipside.
12. THE LAST WORDS - 'Today's Kidz' - Remand 7" - Australia - 1979
Second single. They moved to London but the scene had moved on.

A second track from the 'Spontan Abort' E.P.
14. THE LIGHTNING RAIDERS - 'Criminal World' - Revenge 7" - UK - 1981
Yet another second single. The 'Sweet Revenge' CD is what you need.
15. T.S.O.L. - 'In Time' - Enigma LP - USA - 1984
Another track from 'Change Today'.
16. ACCIDENT ON THE EAST LANCS - 'Tell Me What You Mean' - Roach 7" - UK - 1979
The other side of their debut 7".
17. THE STAINS - 'Emotional Pills' - Redball 7" - UK - 1979
From their sole 7". Not to be confused with any of the U.S. bands of the same name (see next comp).
18. SHAG NASTY - 'No Bullshit, Just Rock 'n' Roll' - Shag Nasty 7" - UK - 1979
Another sole 7" (at the time). Read all about them here.
19. BOB - 'Buddy Boy' - Dumb 7" - USA - 1982
From the flipside of second single 'Super Bingo' (which wasn't actually a song). Ah-oooo, oo-oo!
20. THE FALL - 'It's The New Thing' - Step Forward 7" - UK - 1978
Second single time again. Anti-trend, anti-most things.
21. BETONG HYSTERIA - 'Sipoene Ser Deg' - Mind Expanding 7" - Norway - 1982
A third from 'Spontan Abort'.
22. NOVAK - 'Oh Farrah' - Dumb 7" - USA - 1979
Third single which was a new (and better) version of his debut.
23. THE MIRRORS - 'Block Out' - Gozira 7" - Japan - 1979
The flipside of 'Out Of Order'. More ska than the A-side.
24. ACCIDENT ON THE EAST LANCS - 'Rat Race' - Roach 7" - UK - 1980
The flipside of 'Back End Of Nowhere'.
25. T.S.O.L. - 'Flowers By The Door' - Enigma LP - USA - 1984
The classic of 'Change Today'.
***BONUS TRACKS***

And another debut release, from the 'Pelimannimusaa' E.P.
5. THE MONKS - 'Johnny B. Rotten' - EMI 7" - UK - 1979
Debut single? Of course! A punk piss-take, but slightly amusing.
6. THE CIRCLE JERKS - 'Wild In The Streets' - Posh Boy LP - USA - 1980
From the first 'Rodney On The Roq' album - a track which Posh Boy put out as an etched 1-sided white vinyl single in 1990.
7. DENNIS THE MENACE - 'Go Go Wah Wah' - Self-released 7" - USA - 1980
From their sole E.P. From Cincinnati, Ohio. Nice contast of dungarees and cellophane on the sleeve.

16. FRAEBBBLARNIR - 'Critical Bullshit' - Falkinn 7" - Iceland - 1981
From their second E.P. 'Bjor'. Where else do you find 3 'B's in a row?
17. THE VOPO'S - 'I'm So Glad The King Is Dead' - Red Lux 7" - Netherlands - 1980
Debut 7", from Zwolle. Rumour has it they later went metal but I steer well clear of that sorta stuff.

The Best of Brought To Life - 134

1. DRONGOS FOR EUROPE - 'Death's A Career' - Tempest 7" - UK - 1982
The title track from their second E.P.  From Birmingham.
2. GG ALLIN - 'Gimme Some Head' - Orange 7" - USA - 1981
Though he released an album the previous year, this was GG's first single. Despite the title, it was probably one of the tamest things he ever did.
3. EATER - 'Outside View' - The Label 7" - UK - 1977
Another debut single and the first release on Dave Goodman's The Label.
4. THE KNOBS - 'Nun' - Requestomatic 7" - USA - 1984
Sole single, from New Jersey. Very Beatle-esque except for the subject matter. The Beatles wrote a lot of nonsense but I don't recall anything about nuns.
5. LONDON - 'Everyone's A Winner' - MCA 7" - UK - 1977
And another debut single. This one has a great chorus and the best 'yoo-hoos' in a long time.
6. LONDON PX - 'Orders' - New Puritan 7" - UK - 1978
London PX released a cassette, a 7" and a flexi-disc so they had all the '70s formats covered. Not sure what the intro has to do with the rest of the song, but hey, whatever. Still playing today, Mitch tells me they're planning to do a CD with everything they ever recorded so watch this space. Meanwhile read more about the rare Beatles sleeve at Bored Teenagers.
7. THE NEON HEARTS - 'Answers' - Satril 7" - UK - 1979
Second and final single. Recently reformed.
8. IMPATIENT YOUTH - 'Definition Empty' - Self-released 7" - USA - 1980
From their first 6-song E.P. which was actually all they released during their first run. From Vallejo, California.
9. UK DECAY - 'UK Decay' - Plastic 7" - UK - 1979
Another debut release, this being from a split 7" with Pneumania. It's an accurate description of late-'70s Britain which was soon to be put 'right' by Thatcherism.
10. DRONGOS FOR EUROPE - 'Peace' - Kite 7" - UK - 1981
From their debut 'Adverse Chorus' E.P.
11. EATER - 'Thinkin' Of The U.S.A.' - The Label 7" - UK - 1977
Their psychedelic second 7" which finds them both thinking of and trying to emulate the strange and exotic sounds of the Velvets.
12. BUTCHER - 'Stand And Fight' - Inept 7" - UK - 1983
The second and better of their 2 singles. From Bournemouth.
13. BILL NELSON'S RED NOISE - 'Revolt Into Style' - Harvest 7" - UK - 1979
After Be-Bop Deluxe, Bill went all new-wave on us, releasing an album and two singles with Red Noise before finally going solo. This second 7" was the high point.
14. THE PANICS - 'I'm A Fan' - Superdisc 7" - USA - 1980
Not the Bloomington, Indiana band. This lot were from Florida and this is the superior B-side to second single 'Test . . . Test'.
15. EATER - 'Space Dreaming' - The Label 7" - UK - 1977
From the flipside of 'U.S.A.', and, no, I'm not including 'Michael's bloody Monetary System' - that was the beginnings of Andy's drug problem and is best left well alone.
16. SIX MINUTE WAR - 'Big Wig' - Self-released 7" - UK - 1980
The opening track from their debut 11-song E.P.
17. GG ALLIN - 'Dead Or Alive' - Orange 7" - USA - 1981
The flipside of 'Gimme Some Head'.
18. LONDON - 'Handcuffed' - MCA 7" - UK - 1977
The flipside of 'Everyone's A Winner'.
19. EATER - 'What She Wants She Needs' - The Label 7" - UK - 1978
Their fifth and final 7" before they imploded.
20. PNEUMANIA - 'Coming Attack' - Plastic 7" - UK - 1979
From the split 7" with UK Decay. Spon, their guitarist, soon changed sides.
21. THE DISRUPTERS - 'Young Offender' - Radical Change 7" - UK - 1981
Debut single, with drumming so basic that even I could keep up. From Norwich, y'see?
22. THE NEON HEARTS - 'Armchair Thriller' - Satril 7" - UK - 1979
The flipside of 'Answers'.
23. DRONGOS FOR EUROPE - 'Eternity' - Tempest 7" - UK - 1982
Third and final single of their first run at it. They reformed in '88 and kept crankin' 'em out.
24. IMPATIENT YOUTH - 'Business Man' - Self-released 7" - USA - 1980
Another from their 6-song E.P.
25. SIX MINUTE WAR - 'Camera' - Self-released 7" - UK - 1980
And another from their debut. Often labelled as an anarcho-band, they clearly wanted nothing to do with it.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. UK DECAY - 'Car Crash'
27. EATER - 'You'
28. DRONGOS FOR EUROPE - 'Black Cross'
29. PNEUMANIA - 'Exhibition'
