The Best of Brought To Life - 076

1. THE WASPS - 'Can't Wait For '78' - NEMS LP - UK - 1977
The opening track from the 'Live At The Vortex' LP. An excellent start but it can't disguise the fact that there was too much average stuff on it to make it the classic it should have been.
2. THE FASTBACKS - 'Seven Days' - Popllama LP - USA - 1987
The opening track from 'And His Orchestra' LP. Here's a much later live version.
3. NOISE ANNOYS - 'Living (In The World Today)' - Adult Entertainments LP - UK - 1981
From the hard-to-find 'Sad Day We Left The Croft' compilation LP which showcased bands from Lewis in the Scottish Hebrides. An impressive collection from such a small place.
4. STRYCHNINE - 'Jack The Ripper' - Music Adventures 7" - USA - 1980
From a bunch of dirty-assed hard rockers. Their sole release.
5. GANGSTER - 'Go' - CNR 7" - Netherlands - 1978
Second single from these Dutch glam punksters.
6. THE LUST - '1,000 More' - Cork The Dog 7" - USA - 1982
A cracking tune from the 'Dread In N.Y.' 5-song E.P - their second.
7. THE JOHNNY'S - 'Happiness Is High Speed' - Self-released 7" - USA - 1979
A nice lo-fi recording from their sole 3-song release 'Spy For Your Love'.
8. SUBURBAN SLAG - 'Up Against The Wall' - Demo - Canada - 1980
This was a Canadian band consisting of Doug Boland, Jeff Burns, Jim Hanlon and Jon Card. I'm not aware of any vinyl they did.
9. INNER CITY UNIT - 'Polly Ethylene' - Riddle LP - UK - 1980
From their debut album 'Passout'. A nice quirky-jerky effort.
10. THE SUSPECTS - 'Nothing To Declare' NEMS LP - UK - 1977
A second track from the 'Live At The Vortex' LP.
11. TYRANNA - 'Unfaithful' - Demo - Canada - 1978
Another great Canadian demo. This lot were from Toronto and this track is available on a Rave Up retrospective LP.
12. DISCO ZOMBIES - 'The Year Of The Sex Olympics' - Demo - UK - 1978
Another early demo, this time from the UK and the enigmatic Disco Zombies. Lots of similar tracks available on Amazon as downloads.
13. THE RONG - 'Union Jack' Adult Entertainments LP - UK - 1981
Another track from the hard-to-find 'Sad Day We Left The Croft' compilation LP.
14. THE SEIZE - 'Why?' - Why Not 7" - UK - 1980
The first of 3 charming 7"s they did in the early '80s. You can actually hear them learning how to play. Did you get the 'Banana Splits' solo?
15. LUNA - 'Vila' - Helidon LP - Yugoslavia - 1984
From the 'Nestvarne Stvari' album, their sole release. Everything about it screams post-punk but the pace gives it an extra energy which lifts it above the genre.
16. THE PROTAGONISTS - 'So Alone' - Nova 7" - USA - 1983
From their sole release - the 'Hard On Me' 3-tracker. From Naperville, Illinois.
17. THE MANIACS - 'You Don't Break My Heart'NEMS LP - UK - 1977
A third track from the 'Live At The Vortex' LP.
18. TOT TAYLOR & HIS ORCHESTRA - 'Your Little U.F.O.' - GTO 7" - UK - 1979
The flipside of third single 'The Chocolate Song'.
19. SUBURBAN SLAG - 'Look At Yourself'Demo - Canada - 1980
Another goodie from their meaty demo.
20. THE JOHNNY'S - 'Stuck On Her'Self-released 7" - USA - 1979
Another track from their 'Spy For Your Love' E.P.
21. TYRANNA - '12XU' - Demo - Canada - 1978
Another from the Rave Up LP. An excellent Wire cover no less. I actually prefer this to the original.
22. DISCO ZOMBIES - 'Target Practice'Demo - UK - 1978
Another early 'Zombies demo for your entertainment.
23. NOISE ANNOYS - 'New Heroes' Adult Entertainments LP - UK - 1981
Another goodie from 'Sad Day We Left The Croft'.
24. THE APOSTLES - 'Pigs For Slaughter' - Self-released 7" - UK - 1982
From the 'Blow It Up, Burn It Down, Kick It Til It Breaks' E.P. - their first vinyl. I respected their attitude at the time but not necessarily their politics. They couldn't seem to agree within the band at times so it was hard to work out exactly where they stood.
25. THE ART ATTACKS - 'Frankenstein's Heartbeat' NEMS LP - UK - 1977
And finally, a fourth from 'Live At The Vortex'.

***BONUS TRACKS***
26. THE DISCO ZOMBIES - 'TV Screen Existence'
27. THE PROTAGONISTS -'Hard On Me'
28. THE ART ATTACKS - 'Animal Bondage'
29. THE MANIACS - 'I Aint Gonna Be History'
