The Best of Brought To Life - 117

1. THE LURKERS - 'Be My Prisoner' - Beggars Banquet LP - UK - 1977
'Streets' was a sampler of lots of obscure 7"s released in '77 , with a few Beggars banquet acts included, of course, and a couple of classic unreleased cuts to boot. This was The Lurkers' finest moment.
2. THE PRIMMERS - 'Police Wheels' - Ripper 12" - New Zealand - 1983
Meanwhile 'Rip Shit Or Bust' was a mere 6-track 12" sampler - but another goodie.
3. NAKED RAYGUN - 'Vanilla Blue' - Sandpounder 7" - USA - 1987
Only the second 7" released by Naked Raygun, in nice vanilla-blue vinyl too. The quintessential punk rock love song.
4. CINECYDE - 'Radiation Sickness' - Tremor 7" - USA - 1979
'Positive Action', their 3rd E.P., is a classic, but please tell me why no-one seems to have their second album 'Who Goes There?' Were they mostly incinerated in an unconfirmed warehouse fire, or did a wronged ex-girlfriend steal most of the pressing, or is it so incredibly bad that no-one's ever bothered to share it??? The public needs to know!!! (You do see them for sale on e-bay now and then but I haven't owned a record player since my record collection was stolen by a couple of skinheads with a bagfull of pot and a transit van back in the '90s).
5. A.B.H. - 'Teenage Aggression' - Demo - UK - 1982
There were more punk bands from Ipswich than just the Adicts. This got a Captain Oi! release as a split CD with Subculture.
6. A.M.Q.A. - 'Cats Are Neat' - Subcore 7" - USA - 1986
From their 7-track E.P. of the same name. Apple Maggot Quarantine Area. Very silly and yet full of charm. Who would let a cat play with their tool? Ouch!
7. THE PAGANS - 'Dead End America' - Drome 7" - USA - 1979
Their fourth single. Yet another gnarly guitar sound.
8. THE CHEATERS - '(How Would You Like To Be The) Ice Man' - No Threes 7" - USA - 1980
From the 'Man As Hunter' E.P. - their sole release.
9. DRIVE - 'Jerkin' - Beggars Banquet LP or NRG 7" - UK - 1977
Boogie woogie wanking song which gave it a punk edge, I suppose.
10. DE CYLINDERS - 'Computerrock' - CNR 7" - Netherlands - 1981
The flipside of 3rd single 'Freddy Mercury'.
11. THE ANDROIDSS - 'Getting Jumpy' - Ripper 12" - New Zealand - 1983
Another from the 'Rip Shit Or Bust' sampler.
12. CINECYDE - 'Phosphorus And Napalm' - Tremor 7" - USA - 1979
Another from the 'Positive Action' E.P.
13. WHITE BOY - 'Poker Chips' - Doodley Squat 7" - USA - 1984
Fourth and final single by this father/son (yes, really) duo.
14. CANE - 'College Girls' - Beggars Banquet LP - UK - 1977
Another from 'Streets' which I don't think appeared anywhere else.
15. CRIME - 'Piss On You' - Demo - UK - 1980
From the demo that lead to the 'Generation Gap' 7".
16. A.B.H. - 'Concrete Jungle' - Demo - UK - 1983
Also available on the split release with Subculture.
17. SUBCULTURE - 'Stick Together' - Secret LP - UK - 1982
As is this track, but before that it appeared on the 'Oi! Oi! That's Yer Lot!' LP.
18. A.M.Q.A. - 'Nice Truck' - Subcore 7" - USA - 1986
Another from the 'Cats Are Neat' E.P.
19. THE MEMBERS - 'Fear On The Streets' - Beggars Banquet LP - UK - 1977
Another unreleased cut from 'streets'.
20. THE INSTIGATORS - 'Hope She's Alright' - Ripper 7" - New Zealand - 1982
Sole single which also appeared on 'Rip Shit Or Bust'.
21. CRIME - 'R.A.F.' - Demo - UK - 1980
A cleaned up version of this one also appeared on the 'N.E.1' sampler.
22. CINECYDE - 'Rock Meat (& The Hard Ons)' - Tremor 7" - USA - 1978
The stand-out track from second E.P. 'Black Vinyl Threat'.
23. A.M.Q.A. - 'Stiff 'n' Blue' - Subcore 7" - USA - 1986
Another from 'Cats Are Neat'. They went on to release a metal crossover album but I won't be featuring it here.
24. THE PAGANS - 'Little Black Egg' - Drome 7" - USA - 1979
The flipside of 'Dead End America'. Hear the Nightcrawlers original version here.

Another one that appeared on 'Streets'.
