The Best of Brought To Life - 112

1. THE CROWD - 'Right Time' - Posh Boy LP - USA - 1980
I'll feature a classic compilation on each of the next few installments. This one's from the first 'Rodney On The Roq' album.
2. BAD RELIGION - 'You Are The Government' - Epitaph LP - USA - 1988
This was a 'Crew' moment - i.e. a band shows promise but then suddenly tightens up both musically and lyrically and out of the blue releases a stone-wall classic. 'Suffer' was such an album.
3. THE VECTORS - 'Death To Disco' - Chateau East 7" - USA - 1979
Some people think the disco track on Blondie's 'Parallel Lines' adds an extra dimension. It does, but I'm with the Vectors - disco sucks! This also appeared on 'The Insane Darrell Wayne's No Disco' album.
4. THE RIVALS - 'Both Sides' - Oakwood 7" - UK - 1980
The flipside to 'Here Comes The Night' (featured previously).
5. BLITZKRIEG BOP -' Let's Go' (original version) - Mortonsound 7" - UK - 1977
I once posted the Lightning version as the better cut. The original is not far behind.
6. SATAN'S RATS - 'In My Love For You' - DJM 7" - UK - 1977
Their debut single. There was a white vinyl re-issue much later, if you like that sort of thing.
7. THE SHAPES - '(I Saw) Batman (In The Launderette)' - Sofa 7" - UK - 1979
One from the 'Wots For Lunch Mum?' E.P. Very silly, but fun.
8. HÆRVERK - 'Loven Slar' - Torpedo Platter 7" - Norway - 1980
An early Norwegian effort now from the 'Produkt Av 70-åra' E.P.
9. OSLO BØRS - 'Smukke Folks Barn Børn' - Krakk 7" - Norway - 1979
And an even earlier effort from the most democratic country in the world.
10. TARGET 13 - 'Rodney On The Roq' - Posh Boy LP - USA - 1981
This lot had a great idea of how to get onto 'Rodney On The Roq' Volume 2. And, hey presto, it worked! Also released later as a green vinyl 7".
11. BAD RELIGION - '1,000 More Fools' - Epitaph LP - USA - 1988
Another classic from 'Suffer'.
12. RATSIA - 'Kassapäät' - Johanna 7" - Finland - 1979
From the flipside of 'Lontoon Skidit'.
13. Z-CARS - 'Is There Someone Out There?' - Au Go Go 7" - Australia - 1980
Sole single. Let Jigsaw Frank tell you all about it.
14. ESPASMODICOS - 'Estan Deseando Que Te Pongas A Temblar' - DRO 7" - Spain - 1982
A jaunty little number from their 3-song E.P.
15. THE SHAPES - 'College Girls' - Sofa 7" - UK - 1979
This was also on the 'Wot's For Lunch' E.P. - though possibly a slightly different version.
16. THE SIMPLETONES - 'TV Love' - Posh Boy LP - USA - 1980
Another hit from 'Rodney On the Roq'.
17. BAD RELIGION - 'I Give You Nothing' - Epitaph LP - USA - 1988
A third from 'Suffer'.
18. THE STINKY TOYS - 'Driver Blues' - Polydor 7" - France - 1977
The flipside of disappointing debut single 'Boozy Creed'. Here they are playing a track from their debut album.
19. THE VECTORS - 'Bad Situation' - Demo - USA - 1981
Available on the 'Behind The Orange Curtain: 20 Years Of Hits And Giggles' CD.
20. OSLO BØRS - 'Ratner Guder' - Krakk 7" - Norway - 1979
Another track from their first E.P.
21. HÆRVERK - 'Ingen Visjoner' - Torpedo Platter 7" - Norway - 1980
As above. I love the welded characters in the name - Norwegian is so strange to us and yet this wonderful country is but a ferry-ride away.
22. THE TAGMEMICS - 'Take Your Brain Out For A Walk' - Index 7" - UK - 1980
One from their 'Chimneys' 7". Ex-Art Attacks. Devo used to cover this, y'know?
23. THE XTRAVERTS - 'Blank Generation' - Spike 7" - UK - 1978
Their debut single. Available on the 'So Much Hate' CD on Bin Liner.
24. BLITZKRIEG BOP - 'Bugger Off' - Mortonsound 7" - UK - 1977
One from the flipside of the original 'Let's Go'.
25. BAD RELIGION - 'What Can You Do?' - Epitaph LP - USA - 1988
And a fourth from 'Suffer'.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. THE ART ATTACKS - 'Neutron Bomb'
27. BAD RELIGION - 'How Much Is Enough?'
28. THE SHAPES - 'Chatterbox'
29. FRONT - 'Queen's Mafia'
