The Best of Brought To Life - 067

1. ADRENALIN O.D. - 'A.O.D. vs Godzilla' - Buy Our Records LP - USA - 1984
The title track from their debut album, 'The Wacky Hi-Jinks Of Adrenalin O.D.' It was the first part of an instrumental trilogy. More about that later.
2. SCREAM - 'Came Without A Warning' - Dischord LP - USA - 1982
Again, the first track from their first album, 'Still Screaming'. More recent live version in a record store here.
3. RED ALERT - 'Screaming At The Nation' - No Future 7" - UK - 1982
From their 2nd 7", the 'In Britain' E.P.  Saw them with the Toy Dolls in Middlesbrough that year and it was one of the best gigs I'd ever been to, despite the indifference of some of the crowd.
4. NEGATIVE APPROACH - 'Can't Tell No-One' - Touch And Go 7" - USA - 1982
From their primitive, raw-sounding 10-song debut E.P.  Their gigs looked like fun.
5. RESISTANCE 77 - 'Nottingham Problem' - Riot City 7" - UK - 1982
First track on the 'Nowhere To Play' E.P.
6. DANNY DECAY & THE MOLARS - 'Go For Broke' - Republic 7" - Australia - 1982
From their 'If The Dentistry Is Right' E.P.  Let Wallaby Beat tell you more.
7. THE F.U.'s - 'Warlords' - Gasatanka LP - USA - 1984
First track on their final release, 'Do We Really Want To Hurt You?' After this they morphed into the Straw Dogs with a more hard rock feel. Pity.
8. THE FRANTIC ELEVATORS - 'I Feel Like The Hunchback Of Notre Dame' - Crackin' Up 7" - UK - 1981
The third single from Mick Hucknall's prelude to Simply Red. It's hard to believe, I know. This track was the B-side of 'Searching For The Only One'.
9. THE BOYS - 'Weoh Weoh Weoh' - Parole 7" - Australia - 1981
There were hundreds of bands called The Boys. This lot were from Perth in Australia and unleashed five singles and a couple of albums in their time. Here they are performing one of their more popular hits.
10. THE SCISSOR FITS - 'I Don't Wanna Work For British Airways' - Dubious 7" - UK - 1978
A more offbeat selection now from the 'Taut? Tense? Angular? And Other British Rail Sandwiches' 5-track E.P.
11. SCREAM - 'Piece Of Her Time'Dischord LP - USA - 1982
Another goodie from 'Still Screaming'.
12. ADRENALIN O.D. - 'Small Talk' - Buy Our Records LP - USA - 1984
And another from 'Wacky Hi-Jinks.'
13. FLINN - 'Two Cans Of Fosters & A Packet Of Potato Chips Please' - Astor 7" - Australia - 1980
You can probably guess the origins of this song, but for the full tale, again we'll let the Wallabies tell you all about it.
14. RED ALERT - 'In Britain' - No Future 7" - UK - 1982
The title track of the E.P. of the same name.
15. THE PAST - 'Reagan' - Birdskit 7" - Sweden - 1983
The Past were a punk trio from Köping. From a 7-track split E.P. with Zynthslakt.
16. THE CELIBATE RIFLES - 'Sometimes (I Wouldn't Live Here If You Payed Me)' - Hot 7" - Australia - 1984
This must have been, what, their fourth 7"? Not sure if the spelling is a deliberate mistake or just an ozzie thing.
17. THE SCISSOR FITS - 'Small One' - Dubious 7" - UK - 1978
Another from the 'Taut? Tense? Angular? And Other British Rail Sandwiches' E.P.
18. THE F.U.'s - 'Rock The Nation' - Gasatanka LP - USA - 1984
Another from 'Do We Really Want To Hurt You?'
19. SCREAM - 'Solidarity' - Dischord LP - USA - 1982
And another from 'Still Screaming'.
20. RED ALERT - 'Take No Prisoners' - No Future 7" - UK - 1982
Their 3rd 7", more lyrically astute than most of the Oi stuff at the time but not generally regarded as memorable enough to be a classic single.
21. RESISTANCE 77 - 'Join The Army' - Riot City 7" - UK - 1982
Another from the 'Nowhere To Play' E.P.  Not sure what the obsession was with army songs in early-80s UK punk, I was there and I rarely ever saw a squaddie.
22. ADRENALIN O.D. - 'White Hassle' - Buy Our Records LP - USA - 1984
A third from 'The Wacky Hi-Jinks Of Adrenalin O.D.' An amusing tirade about the White Castles fast food joint.
23. DANNY DECAY & THE MOLARS - 'Tripping In Taree' - Republic 7" - Australia - 1982
Another from 'If The Dentistry Is Right'.
24. RED ALERT - 'City Invasion' - No Future 7" - UK - 1983
Their 4th 7", their last for a few years while some of the lads adjusted to fatherhood.
25. THE F.U.'s - 'Do We Really Want To Hurt You' - Gasatanka LP - USA - 1984
And finally, the title track from the last F.U.'s record. 'Now me I'm not naive, I know that lameness sells, buy why, tell me why, must you put me through this synthesizer hell?' Indeed.
