The Best of Brought To Life - 070

1. SONS OF ISHMAEL - 'Small Town Mentality' - Death Enema 7" - Canada - 1985
From Toronto. This was the opening track from their 13-track debut E.P. 'Hayseed Hardcore'.
2. DIE KREUZEN - 'Rumors' - Touch And Go LP - USA - 1984
Meanwhile, the year before, Die Kreuzen released their self-titled album. 21 tracks of sheer madness. This was the first track.
3. THE MOB - '101' - Mob-Style 7" - USA - 1982
And going back further still to 1982 we had the 9-track 'Upset The System' E.P. by the Mob from New York. Their first.
4. TOXIC REASONS - 'Never Give In' - T-Reason LP - USA - 1986
From their 4th album 'Bullets For You'. The 3rd album, 1985's 'Within These Walls' was only average.
5. THE MARCHING GIRLS - 'First In Line' - Propeller 7" - New Zealand - 1980
The B-side of first single 'True Love'. They were Ronnie, Johnny and Des. They weren't girls at all!
6. C.I.A. - 'I Hate The Radio' - Big City 7" - USA - 1983
The best track they ever recorded, released on the 'Nice And Loud' E.P. along with No Control, Disorderly Conduct, Ultra Violence, Reflex From Pain and the Vatican Commandos.
7. DIE KREUZEN - 'This Hope'Touch And Go LP - USA - 1984
A second track from their self-titled debut album.
8. KAAOS - 'Odotan Maailmanloppua' - Weird Sustem LP - Finland - 1984
From 'So Much Fun' - a split album with Terveet Kadet (who were having an off day).
9. THE FLAMIN' OH's - 'I'm A Medical Mess' - Fat City LP - USA - 1980
From their self-titled debut album. Here's a video of the more commercial opening track.
10. SUNDAY PAINTERS - 'Concertina' - Terminal LP - Australia - 1985
From 'Fourth Annual Report'. Suitably crazed and slightly off-kilter post-punk.
11. THE SIGHS - 'Bedroom Craze' - Relief 12" - USA - 1985
From Holyoke, Massachusetts. This was from their first release, a 4-track 12-incher.
12. THE DARK - 'The Masque' - Fresh 7" - UK - 1982
One of their last releases. Slightly gothic, but entertaining enough.
13. DIE KREUZEN - 'Pain/Sick People'Touch And Go LP - USA - 1984
A double track cut from their self-titled debut album. Great intro on both.
14. ANTIDOTE - 'Real Deal' - Antidote 7" - USA - 1983
From 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' - an 8-track E.P which was the only thing they put out in the '80s. Recent live version here.
15. FAMILIA REAL - 'Destruye' - Canary 7" - Spain - 1983
From Tenerife, no less! They only did a couple of demos and this cracking 7" and yet there's videos here and here.
16. KOLLAA KESTÄÄ - 'Yhden Soinnun Ihme' - Poko 7" - Finland - 1978
From a 6-track 7". If it sounds remarkably like 'One Chord Wonders' that's because it is.
17. THE ABUSED - 'Loud And Clear' - Abused Music - USA - 1983
Title track from the 'Loud and Clear' 8-song E.P.  The only thing they did.
18. THE MOB - 'Step Forward' - Mob-Style 7" - USA - 1983
And for me, their second E.P., despite only having 3 tracks, was indeed a step forward. The red vinyl didn't matter a jot.
19. DIE KREUZEN - 'No Time'Touch And Go LP - USA - 1984
Yet another from their self-titled debut album.
20. THE PROLETARIAT - 'Market Place' - Homestead 7" - USA - 1985
Though they did 2 albums and appeared on a couple of comps, this was their only single. 'Believe me, it's not envy or petty jealousy, that makes me despise the lifestyles of decadence and wealth'.
21. SUNDAY PAINTERS - 'I'm A Car Crash' - Terminal 7" - Australia - 1981
From the 'Three Kinds Of Escapism' 7". Can you hear the Swell Maps influence in there?
22. TOXIC REASONS - 'It's A Lie'T-Reason LP - USA - 1986
Another track from 'Bullets For You'.
23. LOOSE PRICK - 'Kaupunki Elämää' - Poko 7" - Finland - 1979
From the 'Kaupunki' E.P. which has nothing to do with cowboy punk.
24. TAMPERE SS - 'Sotaa' - Self-released 7" - Finland - 1983
Another 8-track hardcore E.P. from 1983, but this time from Finland.
25. DIE KREUZEN - 'No Name'Touch And Go LP - USA - 1984
'We'll have no names, no brains, no hope'.
