The Best of Brought To Life - 037

1. T.S.O.L. - 'Sounds Of Laughter' - Frontier LP - USA - 1981
They had a lot to live up to after their debut 12" and 'Dance With Me', the follow-up album didn't quite hit the same heights. But what the hell could? This nevertheless solid album is obsessed with madness and death but still retains much of the punk power and pace that meant they couldn't really be called goth. Unless you wanted to.
2. SOCIAL DISTORTION - 'The Creeps' (I Just Wanna Give You) - 13th Floor LP - USA - 1983
Lead track from 'Mommy's Little Monster'. This, their first album, was long-awaited, so long in fact that many lost interest and in the end it didn't sell that well. Only 9 tracks, but most of them hit the mark.
3. ROTJOCH - 'Bad Boy' - Polydor 7" - Netherlands - 1981
This great Dutch band didn't release nearly enough records, but I was overjoyed to find this video here.
4. CHELSEA - 'I'm On Fire' - Step Forward LP - UK - 1979
Debut self titled album, opening track. Generally underrated. Musically, at least.
5. CIGARETTES - 'Media Mania' - Demo - 1979
One of their early demos. Available on the Detour LP/CD - 'Will Damage Your Health'.
6. THE TOURISTS - 'Blind Among The Flowers' - Logo 7" - UK - 1979
Debut single. Pre-Eurythmics. TOTP performance here.
7. KOHU 63 - 'Viimeinen Valssi' - Poko 12" - Finland - 1982
Ah, we haven't had any good old Finnish punk rock for ages. And this is among the best. From the 'Valtaa Ei Loistoa' E.P.  There's a blazing modern rendition here.
8. SPLIT ENZ - 'I See Red' - Mushroom 7" - New Zealand - 1978
Originally a quirky rock outfit who dressed as psycho-clowns, they clearly took a punk influence on this track and changed their look. Love the guitar and piano solos. Video here.
9. SNEEKY FEELIN'S - 'Private Mail' - Warped 7" - UK - 1979
Sounder were a pub rock band who released one 45 in 1977. In 1979 they changed their name to Sneeky Feelin's and released this sole 7". (The name was taken from the Elvis Costello song, Sneaky Feelings).
10. SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS - 'Where Have All The Bootboys Gone?' - Decca 7" - UK - 1977
Second single. Here's them doing it at 'Holidays In The Sun 1996'.
11. CHELSEA - 'Your Toy' - Step Forward LP - UK - 1979
Another from the debut self titled album.
12. RATSIA - 'Ruumis Ja Sielu' - Johanna LP - Finland - 1980
A track from the second album 'Elämän Syke'.
13. IVY & THE TEACHERS - 'Angry Faces' - Lark 7" - Belgium - 1980
Short-lived Belgian band. This was the B-side of 'Once Burnt, Twice Learnt'.
14. CIGARETTES - 'Damage Your Health' - Demo - UK - 1979
Another that can be found on the LP/CD of the same name.
15. SOCIAL DISTORTION - 'Another State Of Mind' - 13th Floor LP - USA - 1983
Another from 'Mommy's Little Monster'.
16. CHELSEA - 'Twelve Men' - Step Forward LP - UK - 1979
Another from the debut self titled album.
17. T.S.O.L. - 'Peace Thru Power' - Frontier LP - USA - 1981
Another track from 'Dance With Me'.
18. THE DOTS - 'I Married A Monkey' - Rebel LP - USA - 1985
From 'The Return Of The Dots' - an album recorded after a 5-year hiatus by this NYC band.
19. KOHU 63 - 'Valtaa 1' - Poko 12" - Finland - 1982
Another belter from the 'Valtaa Ei Loistoa' E.P.
20. SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS - 'Dame To Blame' - Decca 7" - UK - 1977
Third single, if not their best, certainly my favourite.
21. THE TOURISTS - 'The Loneliest Man In The World' - Logo 7" - UK - 1979
Third single. Obligatory TOTP performance here.
22. CHELSEA - 'No-One's Coming Outside' - Step Forward 7" - UK - 1980
Probably their 5th single. Good live band. Here's 'All The Downs'.
23. CIGARETTES - 'You Were So Young' - Demo - UK - 1979
A third from the LP/CD of the same name.
24. SOCIAL DISTORTION - 'Mommy's Little Monster' - 13th Floor LP - USA - 1983
The title track from the album. Obviously.
25. T.S.O.L. - 'Dance With Me' - Frontier LP - USA - 1981
Ditto.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. CHELSEA - 'What Would You Do?'
27. T.S.O.L. - '80 Times'
28. SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS - 'You're A Bore'
