The Best of Brought To Life - 216

1. THE BOOKS - 'Spillane' - Logo LP - UK - 1980
After the classic Books track on #214 there's been a clammering for more more more! Well, I'm here to please so here's the lead track from their sole album 'Expertise'.
2. NERVOUS EATERS - 'Hot Steel And Acid' - Ace Of Hearts LP - USA - 1986
The title track of their second album, released a mere six years after the first!
3. THE UNDEAD - 'It's Corruption' - Riot City 7" - UK - 1982
Some nice tribal drumming from their debut single.
4. SIGGY MAGIC & THE HEY-HOE BAND - 'Commercials For Free' - Self-Released 7" - Canada - 1978
From their sole E.P. which is available on 'Smash The State Volume 3'. Read more here.
5. KJØTT - 'Elektrisk' - Flesh 12" - Norway - 1980
The opening track from their self-titled MLP. Nothing like the single.
6. THE ENIGMAS - 'Roadblocks Are All Over This Town' - Zulu 7" flexi - Canada - 1985
Hilarious xmas fayre. From the 'Merry Christmas 1985' flexi-comp. Read more here.
7. THE SHOVE - 'Raise The Roof Tonight' - Shove Off 7" - UK - 1981
Brings back memories of how it used to be. Heard it on John Peel who promptly gave the band's address as they didn't have a distribution deal. Wrote off and got one. So personal! This was the opening track from their sole E.P.  From York.
8. PRIVATE SCHOOL - 'Money, Guns And Power' - Full Friction 7" - Canada - 1979
Another opening track from a sole E.P.
9. NERVOUS EATERS - 'Got A Hold On It' Ace Of Hearts LP - USA - 1986
A second track from 'Hot Steel And Acid'.
10. THE BOMBS - 'Let's Go To Guyana' - Bomb 7" - USA - 1979
From their sole 'Bombs Live' 7". Not sure if it's live or not - that crowd sounds fake to me!
11. LYNX - 'See The Light' - S.T. Products - UK - 1978
Sole single. Other than that, I know nothing.
12. THE DICKHEADS - 'Squad Leader' - Walking Dead 7" - USA - 1980
Another sole single. From 'Frisco. They made a video of the other side which unfortunately isn't as good, see here.
13. THE BOOKS - 'Expertise' - Logo 7" - UK - 1980
Third single - taken from the album.
14. SILICONE INJECTION - 'Payday On Friday' - Self-released 7" - Canada - 1981
From their sole 'Sic Nos Non Nobis' E.P. which is Latin for 'Thus We Labour, But Not For Ourselves'. I'm guessing they hated work.
15. NERVOUS EATERS - 'Get Stuffed' - Elektra LP - USA - 1980
After the insanely good 'Just Head' single their self-titled debut album was a massive disappointment for me. All I can get enthusiastic about is this reworking of the flipside of the single.
16. THE UNDEAD - 'Listen To The Wall Beat' - Riot City LP - UK - 1984
More tribal drumming. The opening track from sole album 'The Killing Of Reality'.
17. LOWLIFE - 'Leaders' - Airout 7" - Canada - 1979
From yet another sole E.P.  I think I did the other tracks on previous comps.
18. KJØTT - 'Mannen På Taket' Flesh 12" - Norway - 1980
Another track from their self-titled MLP.
19. GO FOUR 3 - 'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer' Zulu 7" flexi - Canada - 1985
Another track from the 'Merry Christmas 1985' flexi-comp. No inventive lyrics but fun all the same.
20. LYNX - 'C.I.A.' S.T. Products - UK - 1978
The flipside of 'See The Light'.
21. THE BOMBS - 'Fortune And Fame' - Bomb 7" - USA - 1979
The other side of their 'Bombs Live' 7".
22. SIGGY MAGIC & THE HEY-HOE BAND - 'Passive And Blue' - Self-Released 7" - Canada - 1978
Another track from their crazy E.P.
23. THE BOOKS - 'Take Us To Your Leader' - Logo 7" - UK - 1980
Second single - not a patch on 'Broadcast', of course.
24. THE UNDEAD - 'This Place Is Burning' - Riot City 7" - UK - 1982
From their second single 'Violent Visions'.
25. NERVOUS EATERS - 'The Times They Are A-Changing' Ace Of Hearts LP - USA - 1986
This is one of the most covered songs in history, nevertheless this is one of my favourite versions. From 'Hot Steel And Acid'.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. THE SHOVE - 'Pigs' - (from the E.P.)
27. SIGGY MAGIC & THE HEY-HOE BAND - 'Tooth Decay' - (from the E.P.)
28. THE BOOKS - 'Dusters' (from 'Expertise')

  1. I like your little tale about the Shove E.P. Wasn't it great receiving records in the mail and not knowing what they looked like until you ripped the parcel open?

    1. Fantastic. And record shops too - all those second hand vinyl shops full of little treasures you never even knew about - long before the 'net of course!
