The Best of Brought To Life - 115

1. THE NEGATIVES - 'Don't Say Goodbye' - Planet LP - UK - 1979
From the rare 'New Wave From The Heart' comp. album.
Even though 1000 copies were pressed only 200 or so copies were sold. The remaining copies were stored in a wardrobe of 'David Moffitt', the label's owner, until about 1990 when they were all taken to the rubbish tip. Not the same Negatives as on the last sampler.
2. PROTEX - 'I Can't Cope' - Polydor 7" - UK - 1979
Second single. Despite a cool B-side it still couldn't top their debut.
3. THE MODELS - 'Censorship' - Peel Session - UK - 1977
Taped from the radio so not the greatest quality, but hey, it's unreleased Models!
4. THE SHAPES - 'Blast Off' - Good Vibrations 7" - UK - 1980
Another second single. Musically more proficient and not as silly as their debut. The Shapes all grown up. Their last vinyl as a result.
5. THE PRAMS - 'Indigestion' - Planet LP - UK - 1979
Another from 'New Wave From The Heart'. Can you really mistake love for indigestion?
6. THE RED LIGHTS - 'Nothing Else To Do' - Demo - UK - 1977
This lot released one single and had a track on 'Farewell To The Roxy'.
7. VICTIM - 'The Teen Age' - Illuminated 7" - UK - 1980
Third single, from Belfast. Sounds like a demo, but isn't.
8. DENTIST - 'Subway Sect' - Demo - France - 1978
This one sounds like a demo and is one, but was released on an album in 2009.
9. THE DIKS - 'Only You Can Choose' - Planet LP - UK - 1979
Probably the best band on 'New Wave From The Heart'.
10. SOCIAL UNREST - 'I Don't Care About Love' - Demo - USA - 1980
Another demo. Pre-vinyl Social Unrest.
11. THE CULT FIGURES - 'Laura Kate' - Rather 7" - UK - 1978
A second single instrumental from Swell Maps incognito.
12. THE SCREAMS - 'Paper Doll' - Infinity 7" - USA - 1979
One of 3 singles they released that year. From Champaign, Illinois.
13. THE DICTATORS - 'Faster And Louder' - Asylum LP - USA - 1978
One of the few good tracks from their largely disappointing third album 'Blood Brothers'.
14. THE POP RIVETS - 'Going Nowhere' - Hipocrite 7" - UK - 1980
From the split E.P. (or indeed the double single) with Sulphate.
15. THE NEGATIVES - 'Metallic Thread Shirt' - Planet LP - UK - 1979
'New Wave From The Heart' strikes again.
16. PROTEX - 'Popularity' - Polydor 7" - UK - 1979
The superior B-side to 'I Can't Cope'.
17. THE MODELS - 'Brainwash' - Peel session - UK - 1977
Another from their solid Peel session.
18. THE SHAPES - 'Airline Disaster' - Good Vibrations 7" - UK - 1980
The flipside to 'Blast Off!'. But are aeroplane windows actually 'port holes'? I think not!
19. THE PRAMS - 'Night Fever' - Planet LP - UK - 1979
The Prams tell us all about nightclubs. Another from 'New Wave From The Heart'.
20. THE RED LIGHTS - 'Keys' - Demo - UK - 1977
Another from their early demo.
21. VICTIM - 'Hang On To Yourself' - Illuminated 7" - UK - 1980
One from the flipside of 'The Teen Age'. One of Bowie's best songs covered in style.
22. DENTIST - 'Your Daddy's Gonna Be Mad' - Demo - France - 1978
The lyrics are unclear, but we call all guess what he's done to her, the beast!
23. THE DIKS - 'Out On The Game' - Planet LP - UK - 1979
A final offering from 'New Wave From The Heart'.
24. SOCIAL UNREST - 'City Police' - Demo - USA - 1980
Another from their early demo.
25. THE CULT FIGURES - 'Almost A Love Song' - Rather 7" - UK - 1978
Another from the second E.P. 'Romance is so out of date'.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. SOCIAL UNREST - 'Special Olympics'
27. THE DICTATORS - 'Stay With Me'
28. DENTIST - 'Bootlicker'
29. SOCIAL UNREST - 'Let The Courts Decide'
