The Best of Brought To Life - 164

1. THE MENTAL - 'Kill The Bill' - Kamikaze Pig 7" - UK - 1979
From their sole 'Extended Play' E.P. before a couple of them joined forces with a couple of Stupid Humans to form the Subhumans.
2. GENERICS - 'Someday' - Self-released 7" - Canada - 1985
The lead track from their sole 'Societal Hemhorrage' E.P.  Recorded in '83 but not released until '85 due to the death of singer Marc Sahrmann.
3. THE SUSSED - 'Don't Swim On The East Coast' - Dead 7" - Ireland - 1981
Their sole single, about the dangers of the Windscale nuclear plant just over the water. Read more here.
4. THE TOOLS - 'Asexuality In The '80s' - Subterranean 7" - USA - 1981
From their 3rd 7" - a re-recording of their track from 'S.F. Underground Vol. 1'.
5. STRYKER - 'On The Phone' - BIRC 7" - USA - 1980
Sole single. From Arizona.
6. ALASKA Y LOS PEGAMOIDES - 'Vertigo' - Hispavox 7" - Spain - 1982
From the flipside of 3rd single 'Bailando'.
7. HEART ATTACK - 'Society' - Demo - USA - 1980
An early version of a song that would later appear on their 'Keep Your Distance' 12" E.P.  Available on 'The Last War '80-'84' CD on Broken Rekids.
8. LES ABLETTES - 'Un Amour Propre' - Self-released 7" - France - 1980
Their debut effort. Come to think of it I much prefer the B-side so you'll get that later.
9. THE HATES - 'Do The Caryl Chessman' - Faceless 7" - USA - 1980
The lead track from their second E.P.  And if you don't know who Caryl Chessman was, read this.
10. LENE LOVICH - 'New Toy' - Stiff 12" - UK - 1981
Available in various formats on various releases. Scary visuals here.
11. THE CARDIACS - 'Icky Qualms' - Self-Released cassette - UK - 1981
After Cardiac Arrest shortened their name they released the 'Toy World' cassette. This is my favourite track from it.
12. STARK RAVING MAD - 'Blood Clot' - Slob 12" - USA - 1985
From their second release 'Amerika'. Just as manic as the first.
13. TEENAGE HEAD - 'You're Tearin' Me Apart' - Epic 7" - Canada - 1978
The superior flipside of debut single 'Picture My Face'.
14. THE MENTAL - 'Party Political Bullshit' - Demo - UK - 1979
From their second demo 'Shoot The Hostages'. As another pathetic election approaches, still as relevant today.
15. STRYKER - 'As The Rain Goes' - BIRC 7" - USA - 1980
The flipside of 'On The Phone'.
16. UNIPLUX - 'U.X.' - RCA Italiana - Italy - 1982
And the flipside of debut single 'Chi Siamo Noi?'
17. HEART ATTACK - 'Chains And Knives' - Demo - USA - 1980
Another early demo available on 'The Last War'.
18. ALASKA Y LOS PEGAMOIDES - 'Horror En El Hipermercado' - Hispavox 7" - Spain - 1980
Their debut single. Hard to imagine much horror though with such a jaunty song.
19. LES ABLETTES - 'Spontanéité……Zéro!!!' - Self-released 7" - France - 1980
As promised, the flipside of 'Un Amour Propre'.
20. THE MENTAL - 'Having Fun In Camden' - Demo - UK - 1979
Another track from 'Shoot The Hostages'.
21. THE SUSSED - 'Drowning In Bed' - Demo - Ireland - 1981
There's supposed to be a CD of demos and radio sessions coming out but I haven't seen it yet.
22. STARK RAVING MAD - 'Ignorance's Day' - Slob 12" - USA - 1985
Another track from 'Amerika' with (shock/horror) slow parts!
23. THE HATES - 'Bored With The Boys' - Faceless 7" - USA - 1980
Another track from their second E.P.
24. CARDIAC ARREST - 'The Obvious Identity' - Self-released cassette - UK - 1980
I had this down as The Cardiacs but of course it's from their previous incarnation.
25. ADAM AND THE ANTS - 'Press Darlings' - CBS 7" - UK - 1980
The flipside of their 'Kings Of The Wild Frontier' 7". Here, have a video.
