The Best of Brought To Life - 161

1. THE SPERMBIRDS - 'Something To Prove' - We Bite LP - Germany - 1986
The opening track from the album of the same name. Let's mosh!
2. THE DELINQUENTS - 'All Talk And No Action' - Live Wire LP - USA - 1981
A batman-style cut from their eponymous album.
3. LENE LOVICH - 'Home' - Stiff LP - UK - 1978
From debut album 'Stateless'. 'Home is hard to swallow, home is like a rock'.
4. THE GLORIOUS STRANGERS - 'Why Don't You Join The Army?' - Theoretical 7" - USA - 1980
Their only single, though an album surfaced a few years later. Anyone got it?
5. THE UGLY - 'To Have Some Fun' - Explosion 7" - Canada - 1978
One side of their only single, from Toronto. Search out their retrospective CD on Other People's Music, then watch 'The Last Pogo Jumps Again', the best punk documentary I've ever seen! Spend your pennies here.
6. DRESS CODE - 'Alcoholic' - Semaphore 7" - USA - 1981
From their sole E.P. 'Alone In The Crowd'.
7. MODEST PROPOSAL - 'Nobody Says No' - One Dimension 7" - USA - 1985
The superior flipside of their only single 'I've Seen Your Face Before'. Like the Glorious Strangers, there was an album a couple of years later.
8. THE POGUES - 'White City' - WEA LP - UK - 1989
Somehow they had to follow the excellent 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God'. They tried a few different styles on 'Peace And Love' with uneven results. This, one of the high points, was also a single.
9. QUESTION? - 'Easy' - WarfRat Grammophon 7" - USA - 1983
From their debut E.P. 'Distance Apart'.
10. THE SPERMBIRDS - 'You're Not A Punk' - We Bite LP - Germany - 1986
Another track from 'Something To Prove'. 'Take your skateboards and leave!'
11. T.V.C. - 'Neutron Killer' - Vertigo LP - Greece - 1982
We haven't had much from Greece, so here's the Tender Violent Chords. From their eponymous debut album.
12. CARDIAC ARREST - 'A Bus For A Bus On The Bus' - Tortch 7" - UK - 1979
I wonder if Stephen Egerton of 'All' had this one in his record collection? Their only single.
13. SPERMA - 'Bombs' - Another Swiss Label 7" - Switzerland - 1979
The vastly superior flipside of debut single 'Zuri Punks'.
14. THE DELINQUENTS - 'It's Just Not The Same' - Live Wire LP - USA - 1981
A second track from their eponymous album.
15. THE HYBRID KIDS - 'Catch A F-Falling Star' - Cherry Red 7" - UK - 1980
This is the way to do a cover version. Twist it, destroy it and leave them puzzled. From the wonderful world of Morgan Fisher
16. THE SPERMBIRDS - 'Get On The Stage' - We Bite LP - Germany - 1986
A third from 'Something To Prove'. Don't worship, don't argue, form your own band!
17. LENE LOVICH - 'Lucky Number' - Stiff LP - UK - 1978
Another from 'Stateless' which became an off-the-wall hit. Visuals here.

From the flipside of 'A Bus For A Bus On The Bus'.
19. THE POGUES - 'Gartloney Rats' - WEA LP - UK - 1989
Another track from 'Peace And Love'.

Another track from their debut album.
21. THE GLORIOUS STRANGERS - 'Media Media' - Theoretical 7" - USA - 1980
The flipside of 'Why Don't You Join The Army?'

A third track from their album. From Austin, Texas.
25. DRESS CODE - 'I Knew' - Semaphore 7" - USA - 1981
And another from their sole E.P. 'Alone In The Crowd'.
