The Best of Brought To Life - 156

1. THE POINTED STICKS - 'Marching Song' - Quintessence LP - Canada - 1980
The catchy opener to their 'Perfect Youth' album. Slightly lightweight compared to their demos but with some great songs nonetheless.
2. THE BONEMEN OF BARUMBA - 'Government Money' - Barumba 10" - USA - 1981
There's been a lot of chatter about this lot recently but this is their only song I would describe as memorable. From their debut E.P.
3. LIP CREAM - 'Fareless Drunker' - Captain LP - Japan - 1986
I love these Japanese to English translations. From 'Kill Ugly Pop' - quite a departure from their previous stuff.
4. SCHNABEL - 'A Fairytale About A Furry Tail' - Clean 7" - Sweden - 1979
Their first of two singles. Possibly an offshoot of previous band 'Panic'.
5. THE V.I.P.s - 'Janine' - Gem 2 x 7" - UK - 1980
From their 'Need Somebody To Love' double single.
6. SUBLIME DE LUXE - 'Donne-Moi Ton Corps Juste Pour Le Sport' - Flamophone 7" - France - 1979
Hidden away on the flipside of their only (bad) single.
7. LOS ILLEGALS - 'El Lay' - A&M 7" - USA - 1980
Debut single. In English on one side, in Spanish on the other. I like the Spanish. Read all about them here.
8. THE COLORS - 'Growing Up American' - Infinite 7" - USA - 1980
The powerpop bastard offspring of the Osmonds. Watch it all here.
9. KITCHEN & THE PLASTIC SPOONS - 'Happy Funeral' - Kitchooons Plastics 7" - Sweden - 1980
From their 'Serve You' debut 7".
10. ESQUELETOS - 'Solo Necesito Un Poco De Diversion' - Flush 7" - Spain - 1983
Some real Spaniards singing Spanish now. From their sole E.P. 'Radio 222'.
11. THE PIXIES - 'No.13 Baby' - 4AD LP - USA - 1989
Well, we can't leave out Side Two of 'Doolittle' can we? 'Six foot girl gonna, sweat when she dig, stand close to the fire when they light the pig.'
12. W.C. - 'Polis Polis' - Dogfri 7" - Sweden - 1983
Another sole single, more's the shame.
13. THE MODERNS - 'When The Time Comes' - Self-Released 7" - Sweden - 1979
From their debut E.P. in the days when they still sang in English.
14. THE POINTED STICKS - 'The Real Thing' - Quintessence LP - Canada - 1980
Another track from 'Perfect Youth'. Released as their second single the previous year so there's also a video here.
15. THE COLORS - 'Rave It Up' - Infinite 7" - USA - 1980
Another from their Infinite E.P. which was released in many different colours.
16. THE AUTOGRAPHS - 'While I'm Still Young' - RAK 7" - UK - 1978
Although I could have sworn otherwise, this appears to be their sole single. Who am I getting them mixed up with?
17. SCHNABEL - 'Young Nights' - Clean 7" - Sweden - 1979
The flipside of 'Furry Tail'.
18. GUDON -' Burst Your Head' - Kagai Mousou 7" - Japan - 1986
From their second E.P. 'Stoic Violence'. Pretty brutal.
19. THE PIXIES - 'Hey' - 4AD LP - USA - 1989
After that, we'll slow the pace right down with this brooding love song from Side Two of 'Doolittle'.
20. THE V.I.P.s - 'Who Knows?' - Gem 2 x 7" - UK - 1980
Another track from their 'Need Somebody To Love' double single.
21. LIP CREAM - 'The Pusher' - Captain LP - Japan - 1986
And another from 'Kill Ugly Pop'.
22. THE CITY LIMITS - 'No Regrets' - Unreleased 7" - UK - 1980
Brought to you by the wonderful My Life's A Jigsaw blog.
23. THE MODERNS - 'Got To Have Pop' - Self-Released 7" - Sweden - 1979
Another track from their debut E.P.
24. W.C. - 'Pappershjaltar' - Dogfri 7" - Sweden - 1983
The flipside of 'Polis Polis'.
25. MANISCH DEPRESSIV - 'Gott Ist Tot / Würde Würde Würde Sein / Aber Wir Wissen / Aufstehn / Was Ist Los Mit Amerika / Zeit Maschine (I & II) / Existieren Sie Nicht / Es Gibt Sie Nicht / Die Maschine / Gott Ist Tot' - Soilant 7" - Switzerland - 1983
And finally a whole E.P. in one rip (as all the songs pretty much merge anyway). Awesome. Recorded back in '81, it was their only release. What a tragedy.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. THE PIXIES - 'La La Love You'
27. THE AUTOGRAPHS - 'Fabulous'
28. THE POINTED STICKS - 'Perfect Youth'
29. THE PIXIES - 'Gouge Away'

    1. Well, I had some of them back in the day and others I found more recently just as mp3s on the internet. I guess all you can do if you want the actual vinyl is try searching for the records on the 'net and see if anyone has them for sale. Good luck!
