The Best of Brought To Life - 155

1. THE PIXIES - 'Debaser' - 4AD LP - USA - 1989
Side One of 'Doolittle' is just about perfect. This one has been played at every student disco I've ever been to. Not that there's been many . . .
2. GUDON - 'Outside Dream' - Selfish 7" - Japan - 1987
Gauze were so awesome I've had to fill the gap with two Japanese bands on this sampler. Here's the first. From their 3rd E.P. 'Howling Communication'.
3. JIM BASNIGHT - 'She Got Fucked' - Precedent 7" - USA - 1977
The superior flipside of debut single 'Live In The Sun'. He soon went on to play with the Moberlys. Love the intro.
4. THE TOKYOS - 'You're So Silly' - Dusty Roads 10" - USA - 1979
This is The Tokyos responding to the previous track. Their sole 10" E.P. if you discount the Rave Up album.
5. THE CHORDS - 'Something's Missing' - Polydor 7" - UK - 1980
Another anthemic single from the Chords. Their second.
6. G-SPOT - 'Poor Little Rich Girl' - IME 7" - USA - 1984
The flipside of sole single 'Idle Worship'. I'm impressed that anyone knew about the g-spot in 1984. I found out way too late.
7. THE PIXIES - 'Tame' - 4AD LP - USA - 1989
Another classic from 'Doolittle'. 'Fall on your face in your bad shoes, lying there like you're TAME!!!'
8. LIP CREAM - 'When The Punx Go Marching In' - A.A. 7" - Japan - 1984
From their debut E.P. 'Night Rider More Than Fight!' Those expecting an Abrasive Wheels copy will be disappointed.
9. THE HOAX - 'Pig Farm' - Hologramme 7" - UK - 1981
From their final E.P. 'Blind Panic'. Last time I did side two, this time you're getting side one.
10. NILP - 'Wuet' - Self-Released 7" - Switzerland - 1982
From their 'Gift' E.P. - one of two they released that year.
11. THE NERVEBREAKERS - 'Girls Girls Girls Girls Girls' -Wild Child 7" - USA - 1981
Their third single - a double A-side. The other side shall follow shortly.
12. THE PIXIES - 'Dead' - 4AD LP - USA - 1989
A third from side one of 'Doolittle'. 'I'm tired of living Shebe, so gimme . . . DEAD!'
13. GUDON - 'Egger' - Selfish 7" - Japan - 1987
The crowning moment of 'Howling Communication' is this, the final track. Leaves you wanting more.
14. THE HOAX - 'Rich Royal' - Hologramme 7" - UK - 1981
Another track from their final E.P. 'Blind Panic'.
15. THE CHORDS - 'Now It's Gone' - Polydor 7" - UK - 1979
Their debut single, a sign of what was to come.
16. THE TOKYOS - 'Daddy Says I Should Be Rich' - Dusty Roads 10" - USA - 1979
The most hilarious track from their 10" E.P.
17. LIP CREAM - 'VX-2' - A.A. 7" - Japan - 1984
Another track from their debut E.P. 'Night Rider More Than Fight!'
18. THE PIXIES - 'I Bleed' - 4AD LP - USA - 1989
A fourth from side one of 'Doolittle'.
19. THE X-E-CUTORS - 'Too Far To Look Inside My Head' - Rok 7" - UK - 1979
Their sole release - a split 7" with the X-Films.
20. THE CHORDS - 'The British Way Of Life' - Polydor 7" - UK - 1980
One of many great singles they released that year.
21. THE GLUEAMS - 'S.S.' - Punk Rules Clan 7" - Switzerland - 1979
The superior flipside to debut single 'Strassen'. Later they'd morph into Grauzone.
22. THE HOAX - 'Some Say' - Hologramme MLP" - UK - 1981
From their second record 'So What' - a 12" blue vinyl affair.
23. THE NERVEBREAKERS - 'I'd Much Rather Be With The Boys' - Wild Child 7" - USA - 1981
The other side of 'Girls Girls Girls Girls Girls'. Another blue vinyl treat.
24. LIP CREAM - 'Johnny, He's Never Die' - Dinamighit Cassette - Japan - 1985
One from the 'Kill The I.B.M. cassette. Very different to their later releases.
25. THE PIXIES - 'Monkey Gone To Heaven' - 4AD LP - USA - 1989
This track ends side one of 'Doolittle'. It moved me to tears the first time I heard it. They were tough times but somehow it helped. 'Rock me, Joe!'
