The Best of Brought To Life - 121

1. THE PAGANS - 'Six And Change' - Neck 7" - USA - 1977
The Pagans debut 7" was recorded on a cheap old reel to reel at a friend's house with a different singer. 200 made. Same song on both sides. As punk as they come.
2. DIZZY AND THE ROMILARS - 'She's Got ????' - Medical 12" - USA - 1982
From the six-track 'Daily Dose' E.P. Full record and video here. Anyone got their debut 7" on Jimboco?
3. THE VOMIT PIGS - 'Useless Eater' - Bad Wreckors 7" - USA - 1978
Released as the 'Take One' E.P. under the name 'V.P.s'. It didn't help. Most of the 500 copies were tossed into a Texas cow pasture.
4. FEAR - 'I Love Livin' In The City' - Criminal 7" - USA - 1978
Whereas, the same year, Fear would refer to this as their 'hit', which of course it wasn't, but they did get to play it on 'The Decline Of Western Civilisation'.
5. THE PANIK - 'Modern Politics' - Rainy City 7" - UK - 1977
Ian Curtis nearly joined this lot y' know? They were from Manchester and the track appeared on their sole release, the 'It Won't Sell' E.P. And it didn't.
6. REALLY RED - 'I Refuse To Sing' - C.I.A. 7" - USA - 1982
From their final 7", the 'New Strings For Old Puppet's' E.P.  5 tracks, every one a winner.
7. THE ZERO BOYS - 'Livin' In The '80s' - Z-Disc 7" - USA - 1980
From their debut E.P. of the same name. Again, 5-tracks, but this one's the clear stand-out.
8. THE DICKS - 'All Night Fever' - Radical 7" - USA - 1980
Another track from their debut 7". It aint no 'Hate The Police', but what is?
9. FEAR - 'Fetch Me One More Beer' - Demo - USA - 1979
From the 13 track 'Lost In Paradise' demo. Most of the tracks surfaced on the 'Living With Fear' bootleg, but the whole thing is to be released legitimately by Lee on Fear Records at some point. This song was 'bought' by Josie Cotton and did become an unlikely hit.
10. THE NERVOUS EATERS - 'Loretta' - Rat 7" - USA - 1976
Their debut 7". It aint no 'Just Head', but . . .
11. DIRTY WORK - 'Never Give An Inch' - Dove 7" - USA - 1979
Their debut single. From Maryland.
12. THE ZEROS - 'Wimp' - Bomp! 7" - USA - 1977
The flipside of debut single 'Don't Push Me Around'. Visuals here.
13. HEART ATTACK - 'God Is Dead' - Damaged Goods 7" - USA - 1981
From their debut E.P. Seek out their entire discography on 'The Last War 1980-84' CD (Broken Rekids).
14. THE MAD - 'The Hell' - Disgusting 7" - USA - 1980
From their second 7" known as the 'Fried Egg' E.P., but that's just the meandering song on the flipside. The crazy fried egg theme was easier to sell. Not that it did . . .
15. FEAR - 'Waiting For The Gas' - Demo - USA - 1979
Another from 'Lost In Paradise'.
16. REALLY RED - 'No More Art' - C.I.A. 7" - USA - 1982
And another from 'New Strings For Old Puppets'.
17. THE DOGS - 'Rot 'n' Roll' - Rave-Up 7" - USA - 1977
Not The Dogs from Detroit, this lot were from Iowa. Nice fetish sleeve, slightly spoiled by the long hair and bell bottoms.
18. DIZZY AND THE ROMILARS - 'Push-Button Drive' - Medical 12" - USA - 1982
Another from the 'Daily Dose' E.P.
19. XS DISCHARGE - 'Hassles' - Groucho Marxist 7" - UK - 1980
From the 'Life's A Wank' E.P., from Paisley in Scotland. Read the whole amusing story here.
20. AIRSHIP - 'Give Me A Can Of Spray Paint' - Decca 7" - UK - 1979
The flipside of 'Get Out, Take Your Mother With You'.
21. FEAR - 'Three Blind Mice' - Demo - USA - 1979
Another from 'Lost In Paradise'.
22. REALLY RED - 'Suburban Disease' - C.I.A. 7" - USA - 1982
And another from 'New Strings For Old Puppets'.
