The Best of Brought To Life - 029

1. FORGOTTEN REBELS - 'Hello Hello I'm Back Again' - Star LP - Canada - 1982
Well, we aren't allowed to listen to the original for political correctness and good taste reasons so the next best thing is to give you the Forgotten Rebels. This is the lead-in track from 'This Aint Hollywood'.
2. ULTRAVOX - 'Rockwrok' - Island LP - UK - 1977
From the second LP 'Ha! Ha! Ha!' There was also a 7" with a shortened version. By the way, anyone who prefers Ultravox with Midge Ure over John Foxx really shouldn't be reading this blog.
3. THE CARPETTES - 'I Don't Mean It' - Beggars Banquet 7" - UK - 1979
The best track taken from the 'Frustration Paradise' LP. Powerpop has rarely been better than this.
4. HUBBLE BUBBLE - 'I Don't Mind' - Sinus LP - Belgium - 1979
From the 2nd LP 'Faking'. Just listen to that crazy lead guitar!
5. JOHNNY MOPED - 'V.D. Boiler' - Chiswick LP - UK - 1978
One of the better tracks on the 'Cycledelic' LP. As horrendous as 'she' sounded, poor Johnny still slipped her one. The '70s were ugly times.
6. THE ADICTS - 'This Is Your Life' - Demo - UK - 1978
From the first demo, available on the LP of the same name.
7. THE SYSTEM - 'Thought Control' - Demo - UK - 1982
Their demos were generally better than their vinyl. This was finally released due to popular demand in 1997.
8. THE HYPNOTICS - 'Weird People' - Enigma LP - USA - 1982
Lead track from the 'Indoor Fiends' LP. A much underrated L.A. band.
9. ELTON MOTELLO - 'Victim Of Time' - RKM LP - Belgium - 1987
Lead in track from the first of two decent albums. Released in a number of different countries on a number of different labels. World domination, sadly, did not ensue.
10. THE OUTCASTS - 'Magnum Force' - GBH 7" - UK - 1981
Two epic sagas of gangland violence and retribution on this superior single.
11. THE NIPPLE ERECTORS - 'So Pissed Off' - Demo - 1978
Recorded at the same time as the 'King Of The Bop' single. This might have been the single if it wasn't for the swearing. Available on 'Bops, Babes, Booze 'n' Bovver'.
12. FORGOTTEN REBELS - 'The Me Generation' - Star LP - Canada - 1982
Another from 'This Aint Hollywood'.
13. HUBBLE BUBBLE - 'Faking' - Sinus LP - Belgium - 1979
The title track of the 2nd LP.
14. THE MOONDOGS - 'Schoolgirl Crush' - Ariola LP - UK - 1981
From the sole LP 'That's What Friends Are For'. Glorious powerpop throughout. 'It's not a crush no more, you call it mania'.
15. THE OUTCASTS - 'Mania' - Outcasts Only 7" - UK - 1981
From the 'Programme Love' E.P. Did you see the clever link from the last track?
16. THE ADICTS - 'Numbers' - Peel Session - UK - 1979
Forget all the '80s stuff, this was the golden age for the Adicts . . . Harsh Reality fanzine and all that.
17. ULTRAVOX - 'Young Savage' - Island 7" - UK - 1977
This second 7" shocked a few people after their ambient debut 'Dangerous Rhythm', but, hey, punk rock was permeating everywhere in '77.
18. JOHNNY MOPED - 'Panic Button' - Chiswick LP - UK - 1978
Another chaotic masterpiece from 'Cycledelic'.
19. THE SYSTEM - 'Repetition' - Demo - UK - 1982
Had this on tape for many a year without any titles. When it was finally released I realised that I'd never gotten close to the correct title.
20. THE BONGOS - 'In The Congo' - Fetish 7" - UK - 1981
British label but actually an American band, from Hoboken, Joisey. The Plugz might have sounded like this if they hadn't been Mexican.
21. G.G. ALLIN - 'I Need Adventure' - Orange LP - USA - 1980
From his first album: 'Always Was, Is, And Shall Be'. You can put your own ending to that little quote. This was before his own brand of madness became so destructive.
22. HUBBLE BUBBLE - 'Motor Boat' - Sinus LP - Belgium - 1979
Another track from the 2nd LP
23. THE HYPNOTICS - 'The Truth' - Enigma LP - USA - 1982
Another from 'Indoor Fiends'.
24. THE LOOTERS - 'Join The Professionals' - Demo - 1982
From the soundtrack to the film 'Ladies And Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains'. The Looters were Steve Jones, Paul Cook, Paul Simonon and Ray Winstone. Yes, you heard right, Ray Winstone. It's a dated but worthy film with all sorts of interesting cameos, including Black Randy.
25. THE ADICTS - 'Get Adicted' - Peel Session - UK - 1979
And finally, another from their classic Peel session.
