The second release on Touch & Go Rekords (here spelled with a K instead of a C because Dave Stimson, co founder of the zine and label, apparently ran out of Cs when he was making the sleeve.) There were only 200 made of this sucker. Better find the discog CD 'At The Speed Of Twisted Thought' instead.
2. HELEN KELLER - 'Surfin' With Steve and E.D. Amin' - Blitz 7" - USA - 1978
Well, who'd have thought opera and punk would ever mix? One of the best singles ever recorded and it wasn't even a real band. Only a couple of hundred made, so again, you'll never be able to find one, and if you do, you won't be able to afford it.
3. THE PANICS - 'I Wanna Kill My Mom' - Gulcher 7" - USA - 1980
And the classics keep coming. This lot were from Bloomington, Indiana, had this 7", a track on the' Red Snerts' LP and then imploded, though again there's a full length CD of recordings out there somewhere.
4. SADO NATION - 'I'm Trouble' - Trap 7" - USA - 1980
From a 4-song 7" produced and released by Greg Sage of The Wipers. They were all based in Portland, Oregon. Beavers. Cherries. I'll maybe add another track later.
5. THE PAGANS - 'Not Now No Way' - Drome 7" - USA - 1979
Their third single, recorded on Halloween 1978 at Suma, Ohio. 1000 original copies, though it was pressed again in 1987 in an edition of 600.
6. MUTANTS - 'Insect Lounge' - 415 7" - USA - 1980
The sleeve of this 3-tracker somehow misspelled the name as MUTNTS so they corrected it with a lime green stamp with the proper spelling and it looks all the better for it. The Mutants were a popular live act in Frisco and can be heard on a number of compilation albums from the era. More laid back and intricate, musically.
7. ALAN MILMAN SECT - 'Stitches In My Head /I Wanna Kill Somebody' - Britz 7" - USA - 1977
From the 'Punk Rock Christmas' E.P. 'Adolf Hitler and the Son of Sam, the Manson Family that's who I am!'
8. SKAFISH - 'Disgracing The Family Name' - Illegal 7" - USA - 1979
Quirky 7" from a quirky-looking guy to say the least. Jim Skafish claims that he's the sole originator and godfather of punk in Chicago and takes credit for launching new wave and alternative rock as well. Big head as well as a big nose.
9. MODERN WARFARE - 'Dayglo' - Bemisbrain 7" - USA - 1980
From Long Beach, California, this is from their first 3-tracker, produced by Geza X.
10. THE WORST - 'Frustration' - Mutha 7" - USA - 1982
And from the other coast, New York to be precise, this one was part of a 5-track debut. No doubt I'll add another track later.
11. SHRAPNEL - 'Combat Love' - Salute 7" - USA -1979
Moving down to New Jersey this one poses the following conundrum: which came first, this or 'Barbed Wire Love' by Stiff Little Fingers? A co-incidence, I think not!
12. HAMMER DAMAGE - 'Laugh' - Broken 7" - USA - 1979
From Akron, Ohio. A couple of them used to be in the Rubber City Rebels who recorded a cover version of this track the following year though it simply aint in the same league.
13. SOCIAL UNREST - 'Making Room For Youth' - Infra Red 7" - USA - 1981
Atonal vocals but what a blast! A long-lived band in various forms but this is from their first record. My sleeve was dayglo orange.
14. THE ZEROS - 'Don't Push Me Around' - Bomp 7" - USA - 1977
Well, it aint no 'Wild Weekend' but their first single was nonetheless a bit of a charmer. They were still at school when this was released, and so was I.
15. THE DICKS - 'Hate The Police' - Radical 7" - USA - 1980
Probably made famous by Mudhoney covering it in 1989 but this debut 7" by The Dicks is the real deal. 'You can't find justice, it'll find you'.
16. LEGIONAIRE'S DISEASE BAND - 'Downtown' - Disease Unlimited 7" - USA - 1979
The flipside of 'Rather See You Dead'. Get the whole thing at Cheap Rewards blog, which tells us: 'The cover of the record shows a picture of Jerry's grandfather in a casket. It gave Jerry the idea to stage his own funeral as a promotional ploy.'
17. THE URINALS - 'Sex' - Happy Squid 7" - USA - 1980
Enough of these classic debut singles, here's the 3rd release by the legendary Urinals. Still as Lo-Fi as ever. Love the dustbin lid drums.
18. THE NERVES - 'Hanging On the Telephone' - Nerves 7" - USA - 1976
Where would Blondie be if they hadn't covered this? Well, probably exactly where they are now but this is such a cracking tune it could have launched anyone's career, except the Nerves that is, who split shortly after, though they all went on to have better luck in other bands such as the Plimsouls and the Beat.
19. SADO NATION - 'Gimmie You' - Trap 7" - USA - 1980
Another track from their first E.P.
20. THE FIX - 'Off To War' - Touch And Go 7" - USA - 1982
From the 'Jan's Rooms' E.P. which was more straight ahead hardcore than their first. 'Everybody goes, everybody fights, everybody goes, everybody dies'.
21. THE WORST - 'Futur' - Mutha 7" - USA - 1982

22. SKAFISH - 'Work Song' - Illegal 7" - USA - 1979
While I'm posting extra tracks I just remembered that the Skafish B-side is almost as good as the A-side, once you get past the annoying intro.
23. FREESTONE - 'Bummer Bitch' - Akhashic 7" - USA - 1978
The Freestone story is a little contrived and the A-side is a bit of a dirge but no-one can deny the genius of the flip, a tragic story of unrequited love that showers the genre with anger, sarcasm and a host of bodily fluids.
24. THE MUTANTS - 'New Drug' - 415 7" - USA - 1980
On the same 7" as 'Insect Lounge'.
25. THE PAGANS - 'Six And Change' - Neck 7" - USA - 1977
The Pagans debut, recorded live. Same song on both sides in case you wear one side out.
