The Best of Brought To Life - 030

1. THE NOTSENSIBLES - 'Instant Classic' - Bent LP - UK - 1980
And indeed it is! From the first version of the album. Check out their website here.
2. STILL LITTLE FINGERS - 'Suspect Device' - Rigid Digits 7" - UK - 1978
So this is where it all started. Demand meant they could hardly keep up with repressing it until Rough Trade finally took over.
3. BOHEMIA - 'Unconventional Boy' - VU 7"- USA - 1980
From a marvellous 3-tracker. Catchy as fuck. Not sure if there's a picture sleeve available - mine didn't have one.
4. THE SOFT BOYS - 'I Wanna Destroy You' - Armageddon LP - UK - 1980
From their 3rd LP, generally accepted as their best, but 'most commercial' doesn't always mean best. 'A pox upon the media and everything you read' is a good line though.
5. THE MISFITS - 'Last Caress' - Plan 9 12" - USA - 1980
From the 'Beware' 12" - originally planned to promote their 1979 UK tour but it didn't see the light of day until well after. It's a compilation of the 'Bullet' and 'Horrror Business' E.P.s except 'Children In Heat' was replaced by this, one of their most offensive tracks. Killing babies and raping mothers never goes down well.
6. CRUELLA DE VILLE - 'Drunken Uncle John' - Good Vibrations 7" - UK - 1982
Sounds American. Actually, sounds like Bananarama on crystal meth! Excellent single. B-side later.
7. THE DIAGRAM BROTHERS - 'I'm A Policeman' - New Hormones LP - UK - 1981
From their sole LP, 'Some Marvels Of Modern Science'. A little left-field but all the better for it.
8. U.K. SUBS - 'C.I.D.' - City 7" - UK - 1978
Debut single from the band who's ambition was to release an album beginning with every letter of the alphabet. Only 2 to go. Here's a live version from 'Punk Can Take It'.
9. PATHETIX - 'Nil Carboredum' - TJM 7" - UK - 1979
From their second E.P. 'Love In Decay'. What riffage. 'Don't let the bastards grind you down!'
10. THE LILLETTES - Hey Operator' - Attrix LP - UK - 1979
From 'Vaultage 1979' - a Brighton sampler LP. The Lillettes were one of the high points of an otherwise patchy LP.
11. STILL LITTLE FINGERS - 'Alternative Ulster' - Rough Trade/Rigid Digits 7" - UK - 1978
Every bit as good as the first single. This has one of those guitar intros that every punk rocker with a guitar could pick up right away.
12. THE MISFITS - 'Angelfuck' - Demo - USA - 1978
Like 'Last Caress', originally from the 'Static Age' demos which were finally released officially in 1997.
13. THE SOFT BOYS - 'The Queen Of Eyes' - Armageddon LP - UK - 1980
Another from 'Underwater Moonlight'.
14. CRUELLA DE VILLE - 'Those Two Dreadful Children' - Good Vibrations 7" - UK - 1982
The B-side of 'Drunken Uncle John'.
15. THE NOTSENSIBLES - 'I Don't Wanna Work Anymore' - Bent LP - UK - 1980
Another from the first version of 'Instant Classic'. Inexplicably, this, the best track, didn't make it to the second version.
16. BOHEMIA - 'American Life' - VU 7"- USA - 1980
Another classic from their first 3-tracker. If anyone would like to rip or trade their 'Deviations' LP then that would be very nice, thank you.
17. WOODY & THE SPLINTERS - 'I Must Be Mad' - Attrix LP - UK - 1979
Another from 'Vaultage 1979.'
18. STILL LITTLE FINGERS - '78 R.P.M.' - Rough Trade/Rigid Digits 7" - UK - 1978
The B-side of 'Alternative Ulster'.
19. THE MISFITS - 'She' - Demo - USA - 1978
Another from the 'Static Age' demos.
20. THE DOTS - 'Helen In Your Headphones' - EMI 7" - UK - 1982
I think it was their only release, but I know nothing else about them I'm afraid. Still, there's a video here.
21. THE SOFT BOYS - 'Sandra's Having Her Brain Out' - Two Crabs Universal LP - UK - 1979
One from their first album. A bit psychedelic but what the fuck. 'You don't really need a brain, ducky, if you're a girl it's like tonsils, they're more trouble than they're worth'. Discuss.
22. THE INNOCENT - 'Got It In The Bag' - Silent W. Productions - Canada - 1980
From their sole release, a 4-track 7". Does the intro sound a bit too fast to you?
23. THE SKINNIES - 'Does She Or Doesn't She?' - Demo - USA - 1979
This is a raw mix of a track put forward for the 'N.O. Experience Necessary' album.
24. THE MISFITS - 'Hybrid Moments' - Demo - USA - 1978
Yet another from the 'Static Age' demos. 'If you're gonna scream, scream with me, moments like this never last'.
25. STILL LITTLE FINGERS - 'Gotta Get Away' - Rough Trade/Rigid Digits 7" - UK - 1979
Their 3rd single, and another belter.
***BONUS TRACKS***

27. THE SOFT BOYS - 'Leppo And The Jooves'
28. THE MISFITS - 'Return Of The Fly'
