The Best of Brought To Life - 182

1. ADAM AND THE ANTS - 'Cartrouble (Parts I & II)' - Do It LP - UK - 1979
'Dirk Wears White Sox' was a bit of a departure from their '77/'78 'bondage' period but it transpired that Adam was a bit of a chameleon anyway so we shouldn't have been surprised. This was the opening track, though I'm not sure what Part 1 has to do with cars?
2. CHANNEL 3 - 'Wetspots' - Posh Boy 12" - USA - 1981
Sexual frustration (and release) from their classic debut Posh Boy E.P.
3. SOCIAL DISTORTION - 'Playpen' - Posh Boy 7" - USA - 1981
The flipside of 'Mainliner', another Posh Boy classic.
4. THE DICKIES - 'Silent Night' - A & M 7" - USA - 1978
The Dickies had a Christmas single? Of course they did! It's just a shame there wasn't a video.
5. S.N.F.U. - 'Tears' - Cargo LP - Canada - 1988
One of the more bearable tracks from the heavy rocking third album 'Better Than A Stick In The Eye'.
6. ADAM AND THE ANTS - 'Kick' - Do It 7" - UK - 1980
The flipside to the 7" version of 'Cartrouble'.
7. M.I.A. - 'Cold Sweat' - Smoke Seven LP - USA - 1982
This is from their debut 'Last Rites', a split album with Genocide.
8. BLACK FLAG - 'White Minority' - SST 12" - USA - 1980
The right on police had a go at this one without even trying to understand this song or taking into account that the singer was Puerto Rican. From 'Jealous Again'.
9. THE DICKIES - 'Sounds Of Silence' - A & M 7" - USA - 1978
The flipside of 'Silent Night'. Only surpassed by the Sick Things' version.
10. ADAM AND THE ANTS - 'Friends' - CBS 7" - UK - 1981
The flipside to the godawful 'Ant Rap'. To his credit, Adam promised to release some of their early songs as B-sides and that they did. This is one of them.
11. BATTALION OF SAINTS - 'Modern Day Heroes' - Nutrons 12" - USA - 1982
From their 'Fighting Boys' debut E.P.
12. T.S.O.L. - 'Property Is Theft' - Posh Boy 12" - USA - 1981
T.S.O.L.'s debut was also a 1981 Posh Boy classic. If only more of their records sounded like this.
13. M.I.A. - 'Angry Youth' - Smoke Seven LP - USA - 1982
A second track from 'Last Rites for Genocide and M.I.A.'
14. ADAM AND THE ANTS - 'Fall In' - CBS 7" - UK - 1980
The flipside to 'Antmusic' - another early classic.
15. THE MX80 - 'Someday You'll Be King' - Ralph 7" - USA - 1980
An unusual release for this band (and Ralph) but one which is more in line with the other stuff I post.
16. THE DICKIES - 'Shake And Bake' - A & M LP - USA - 1979
One from debut album 'The Incredible Shrinking Dickies'.
17. BLACK FLAG - 'Revenge' - SST 12" - USA - 1980
A second track from 'Jealous Again'.
18. SOCIAL DISTORTION - 'Under My Thumb' - 13th Floor 12" - USA - 1982
One from the flipside of the '1945' E.P.  A Rolling Stones cover.
19. ADAM AND THE ANTS - 'Fat Fun' - Demo - UK - 1981
Another early song re-recorded but this could only be found on the 'Antbox' retrospective.
20. BATTALION OF SAINTS - 'E/B' - Nutrons 12" - USA - 1982
Another track from 'Fighting Boys'.
21. M.I.A. - 'I Hate Hippies' - Smoke Seven LP - USA - 1982
A third track from 'Last Rites for Genocide and M.I.A.'
22. THE DICKIES - 'Nights In White Satin' - A & M 7" - USA - 1979
Another white vinyl cover version classic. Except this time there wasvideo.
23. T.S.O.L. - 'No Way Out' - Posh Boy 12" - USA - 1981
And another track from their debut E.P.
24. ADAM AND THE ANTS - 'Kick #2' - Do It 12" - UK - 1982
A different version available on the 'Antmusic' E.P. which has nothing to do with the CBS single.
25. CHANNEL 3 - 'Mannequin' - Posh Boy 12" - USA - 1981
And another from their debut Posh Boy E.P.

  1. Now this is another awesome collection of west coast hardcore bands. Love the Posh Boy stuff, the Dickies, and MIA too. I may go see CH3 open for MDC in two weeks here in Chicago. They were great when I saw them at PRB 2 years ago. So were TSOL and the Dickies.
