The Best of Brought To Life - 192

1. EATER - 'You' - The Label LP - UK - 1977
As you may have gathered, as we hurtle towards #200 I'm revisiting a lot of classic old albums and there maybe isn't the variety of some of the earlier compilations to wow you. Nevertheless, it's all great stuff so sit back and enjoy. 'The Album' by Eater didn't quite have the impact it should have had due to a slightly flimsy sound, but the songs were there and this was the opening track.
2. THE TOY DOLLS - 'Idle Gossip' - Volume LP - UK - 1986
The title track from their third album which was too 'top end' for my liking but the songs, as ever, were still top notch.
3. THE GERMS - 'Media Blitz' - Slash LP - USA - 1979
This one opened side 2 of 'G.I.'  Here's the live experience.
4. THE DAMNED - 'One Of The Two' - Stiff LP - UK - 1977
'Damned Damned Damned'. That's all there is to say.
5. EATER - 'Public Toys'The Label LP - UK - 1977
A second track from 'The Album' touching on the relationship between the band and the audience.
6. BLIND ACCEPTANCE - 'An Emotion Inside' - Self-Released 7" - USA - 1985
From their sole 5-song E.P.  From California.
7. THE TOY DOLLS - 'The Lambrusco Kid'Volume LP - UK - 1986
A second track from 'Idle Gossip'. For those overseas, Lambrusco is an alcoholic choice for ladies and effeminates.
8. TEX AND THE HORSEHEADS - 'Guitar Obsession' - Enigma/Bemisbrain LP - USA - 1984
I don't believe we've had any cowpunk on the blog as yet. This one's from their eponymous debut album.
9. EATER - 'Room For One'The Label LP - UK - 1977
A third track from 'The Album'.
10. THE GERMS - 'Communist Eyes'Slash LP - USA - 1979
A second from 'G.I.'
11. THE DAMNED - 'Fan Club'Stiff LP - UK - 1977
And a second from 'Damned Damned Damned'. Live version here.
12. THE TOY DOLLS - 'Do You Wanna Be Like Dougy Bell?'Volume LP - UK - 1986
Sort of an edgy 'David Watts'-type song from 'Idle Gossip'.
13. EATER - 'No More (Bedroom Fits)'The Label LP - UK - 1977
A fourth from 'The Album'.
14. BLIND ACCEPTANCE - 'False Identity'Self-Released 7" - USA - 1985
Another track from their E.P.
15. THE GERMS - 'Strange Notes'Slash LP - USA - 1979
And a third from 'G.I.'  'Billy Druids face is marble, he keeps every thought in its place . . .'
16. THE TOY DOLLS - 'Harry Cross (A Tribute To Edna)'Volume LP - UK - 1986
For those overseas, this fourth selection from 'Idle Gossip' centres around an ever-grumpy now defunct soap character from the Liverpool area. Nice mob chorus.
17. EATER - 'Sweet Jane'The Label LP - UK - 1977
And a nice Velvets cover from 'The Album'.
18. THE DAMNED - 'Stretcher Case' - Stiff LP - UK - 1977
One from second album 'Music For Pleasure'.
19. THE GERMS - 'American Leather'Slash LP - USA - 1979
A fourth track from 'G.I.'
20. THE TOY DOLLS - 'You Won't Be Merry On A North Sea Ferry'Volume LP - UK - 1986
The high point of 'Idle Gossip' for me. 'Ahoy! Ahoy! Ahoy!'
21. EATER - 'No Brains'The Label LP - UK - 1977
A sixth from 'The Album'. Here's how it sounded back in the day. See if you can spot Dee Generate's mum doing the shimmy in the crowd.
22. THE DAMNED - 'Your Eyes'Stiff LP - UK - 1977
A second track from 'Music For Pleasure'.
23. THE TOY DOLLS - 'P.C. Stoker'Volume LP - UK - 1986
The last selection from 'Idle Gossip' contains more vitriol than your average Toy Dolls song, but there were plenty of these characters on the force in the '80s.
24. THE GERMS - 'Dragon Lady'Slash LP - USA - 1979
A fifth track from 'G.I.'
25. EATER - 'Get Raped'The Label LP - UK - 1977
And a venomous seventh from 'The Album'.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. THE DAMNED - 'You Take My Money'
27. THE TOY DOLLS - 'Silly Billy'
28. EATER - 'Fifteen'
29. THE TOY DOLLS - 'Geordie's Gone To Jail'
30. THE DAMNED - 'I Feel Alright'

    1. Thanks Chris, yes I will continue but the posts won't be quite as frequent as up to #200 are already compiled but I'll need to select stuff for #201 onwards which will take a bit more time.
