The Best of Brought To Life - 095

1. THE RAMONES - 'Cretin Hop' - Sire LP - USA - 1977
What better way to start than the opening track to third album 'Rocket To Russia'? Live on Musikladen here.
2. THE HARD-ONS - 'What Am I Supposed To Do?' - Waterfront LP - Australia - 1988
'Dickcheese' was a grand mixture of tuneful boppers and full-throttle thrashers. This is one of the former.
3. SAD AMONG STRANGERS - 'Here Come The Caesars' - Brave Tales 7" - UK - 1980
Their second of four singles. I've heard them described as 'hunchback funk', whatever that means?
4. THE STILETTOS - 'Anti-Disco' - Demo - USA - 1978
The Stilettos existed in one form or another throughout the '70s and were known to have at least a couple of future Blondie members in one of their earlier incantations. This track, and many more can be found on the 'Punk Trampoline' CD. Go seek.
5. THE RAMONES - 'Rockaway Beach' - Sire LP - USA - 1977
A second from 'Rocket To Russia'. Live at CBGB's here.
6. PINK PLASTIC & PANTIES - 'Bla-Bla' - Own Label 7" - Netherlands - 1980
Sole single from this all-girl Dutch band. Sorta reminiscent of Kleenex/Liliput but not quite as chaotic.
7. NEUES DEUTSCHLAND - 'Wildwux' - Iron Curtain LP - Germany - 1981
From a varied self-titled LP which verges a bit too much on the experimental on the whole.
8. THE AIRCUTS - 'Radioactivity' - Barnet 7" - Canada - 1980
Thanks to Frank over at Shotgun Solution for introducing me to this little classic, no doubt their only release.
9. THE RAMONES - 'Teenage Lobotomy' - Sire LP - USA - 1977
A third from 'Rocket To Russia'. Live from 'Rock 'n' Roll High School' here.
10. THE HARD-ONS - 'Just Being With You' - Waterfront 7" - Australia - 1989
A heart-warming 7" which, you could say, is the Hard-Ons going soft. Arf. Live version here.
11. MAGGOT SANDWICH - 'My Florida' - KML LP - USA - 1987
One from their 'Get Off The Stage' album. 'This aint no promised land, this aint no Disneyworld, this aint no heaven on earth'. Of course not, it's the murder state!
12. THE STILETTOS - 'Fly On By' Demo - USA - 1978
Another great Stilettos demo, though I'm not sure the sax is damaged enough to be fully effective.
13. THE RAMONES - 'I Wanted Everything' - Sire LP - USA - 1978
One from fourth album 'Road To Ruin'.
14. HUSKER DU - 'Some Kind Of Fun' - Demo - USA - 1984
Here's an out-take from the Zen Arcade sessions. I can see how it didn't quite fit the album but it deserves to be heard nonetheless.
15. THE NO NO's - 'Who Shot The President' - Mutation 7" - USA - 1981
From San Diego, from their sole 4-song E.P.
16. THE GREEN TELESCOPE - 'Turnin' Out' - Psycho LP - UK - 1985
From 'The Waking Dream' compilation album. This lot were from Edinburgh and eventually became The Thanes.
17. THE RAMONES - 'I Wannna Be Sedated' - Sire LP - USA - 1978
Another from 'Road To Ruin'. Last live version here.
18. THE HARD-ONS - 'Missing You, Missing Me' - Waterfront LP - Australia - 1988
Another from 'Dickcheese'.
19. DE CYLINDERS - 'We Must Pay' - CNR 7" - Netherlands - 1980
Their second single. And yes, we have a live version here.
20. THE STILETTOS - 'Blood From A Stone' Demo - USA - 1978
A third great Stilettos demo.
21. THE RAMONES - 'Go Mental' - Sire LP - USA - 1978
A third from 'Road To Ruin'. Live version here.
22. MAGGOT SANDWICH - 'Dead To My World' - KML 7" - USA - 1985
Title track from their debut 6-track E.P. Live version here.
23. HUSKER DU - 'Writers Cramp (Fast Version) - Demo - USA - 1980
From the 'Statues' session. This should have made the vinyl over the 2 tracks they actually released.
24. THE RAMONES - 'She's The One' - Sire LP - USA - 1978
A fourth from 'Road To Ruin' which was also bashed out as a single. Live on Musikladen here.
25. THE HARD-ONS - 'Ache To Touch You' - Waterfront LP - Australia - 1988
And finally, a third from 'Dickcheese'.
