The Best of Brought To Life - 105

1. THE SNOT PUPPIES - 'TV Tantrum' - Demo - USA - 1978
The only other place you're likely to have heard this one is on Killed By Death #13. Despite not releasing anything in their short career, they nevertheless have a message board.
2. THE BRONCS - 'Tele-k-Killing' - Terminal 7" - USA - 1981
Sole single, from Cleveland Ohio, though their 1980 recordings were released on a CD in 2011.
3. THE TITS - 'Daddy Is My Pusher' - Plurex 7" - Netherlands - 1978
An early Dutch punk effort with some wonderful honky tonk keyboards. Re-issued by 1977 records from Japan.
4. EPPU NORMALI - 'Poliisi Pamputtaa Taas' - Poko 7" - Finland - 1978
A jaunty little number. Their first single.
5. THE ENDTABLES - 'Process Of Elimination' - Tuesday 7" - USA - 1979
Not a brilliant E.P. but the tape-machine start-up makes this lead track a winner.
6. DEFINITIVOS - 'The Modern Dance' - Deaf 7" - Belgium - 1981
Nice riff. Available on their expanded 'Courtrai Tonight' CD. Anyone got it?
7. OPERATION IVY - 'Junkies Running Dry' - Lookout 7" - USA - 1988
From the less-collected end of the '80s we have the lead track from their 'Hectic' E.P. One of their few classics which doesn't have a ska beat.
8. MECANO LTD - 'Face Cover Face' - No Fun 7" - Netherlands - 1978
Unlike most of their other releases, so be careful if you're tempted to splash out.
9. THE MEN IN BLACK - 'S & M Bar' - Lectric Eye 7" - USA - 1979
New Orleans seediness. 'Bring out the whiplash, the tar and the feathers.' Ouch!
10. PEKINSKA PATKA - 'Bolje Da Nosim Kratku Kosu' - Jugoton 7" - Yugoslavia - 1980
Second single from those catchy Serbian critters.
11. BENEDICT ARNOLD & THE TRAITORS - 'Kill The Hostages' - Putrid 7" - USA - 1980
Debut single. Since nothing rhymes with 'Hostages' they really shouldn't have tried. It makes them sound very silly.
12. BLITZZ - 'You Got What You Want' - EMI-Bovema 7" - Netherlands - 1978
Flipside of second single. Real powerpop.
13. THE MOLLESTERS - 'Plastic' - Plurex 7" - Netherlands - 1978
Same country, same year, but punk, punk, punk, this time! Plastic punk, perhaps?
14. DEZERTER - 'Plakat' - Polton Lp - Poland - 1985
This version is one of the high points from the 'Fala' compilation album.
15. THE MAD VIRGINS - 'Fuck And Suck' - Romantik 7" - Belgium - 1978
Wow, new heights of amateurism here, but isn't it great? There was a second single released as 'MAD V' a few years later, so if anyone's got it . . .
16. THE INSULTS - 'Stiff Love' - Sick Sounds 7" - USA - 1979
The porno punk continues, this time from the bowels of California.
17. THE JETSONS - 'Genetically Stupid' - Gulcher 7" - USA - 1981
Catchy little number from their sole 3-tracker. From Bloomington, Indiana.
18. LOS REACTORS - 'Laboratory Baby' - Cynykyl 7" - USA - 1981
From their second single. And Frankenstein created woman . . .
19. THE TARTS - 'All The Girls In The World' - Demo - USA - 1981
Another demo-tastic song from Killed By Death #13.
20. OPERATION IVY - 'Healthy Body' - Lookout 7" - USA - 1988
And another from the 'Hectic' E.P.
21. EBENEEZER & THE BLUDGEONS - 'Weekend Nazi' - Primal Stomp 7" - USA - 1978
From their 'Peer Pressure' E.P. 'Oh I Love This Weather' is usually chosen, but that one's quite pedestrian whereas this is a nice punk blast.
22. AK47 - 'The Badge Means You Suck' - Pineapple 7" - USA - 1978
Haven't had an anti-cop song for a while . . .
23. NCM (NON COMPOS MENTIS) - ' I Used To Know' - VVV 7" - USA - 1981
The superior flipside of their second single.
24. THE HUGH BEAUMONT EXPERIENCE - 'Zyklon B' - Cygnus 7" - USA - 1981
The lead track from their 'Cone Johnson' E.P. It's all relatively tame but it does have a classic sleeve.
25. THE TREND - 'Electric Chair' - Self-released 7" - USA - 1980
This one has a nice amateurish recorded-in-a-bedroom flavour. The flip has a buzzsaw guitar but much less charm.
