The opening track from the 'Kill For Christ' 12" E.P. This will be the last all-American sampler. Promise.
2. THE MISFITS - 'Earth A.D.' - Plan 9 LP - USA - 1983
The opening track from the album of the same name. Who expected the Misfits to release such a thrashy record? Well, the live signs were there.
3. THE NORMALS - 'What Do You Think Of The USA?' - Demo - USA - 1979
Haven't I comped this track already? Can't remember. Maybe a different version? Anyway, it's available on the 'Vacation To Nowhere' album, if you can find it.
4. THE ADOLESCENTS - 'Genius In Pain' - Triple X LP - USA - 1988
One of only two good songs from third album 'Balboa Fun Zone'.
5. M.D.C. - 'Dick For Brains' - R Radical LP - USA -1982
What a blistering record 'Millions Of Dead Cops' was. And such varied subject matter. 'You know I love your power, I wait on your golden shower'. Hmmm, whatever turns you on.
6. ZIPPER - 'Iranian Rhapsody' - Zipper 7" - USA - 1979
Sole release by this Californian band. 'Damn yeah, Iran, do you want the bomb?' Political satire or unacceptably racist? You decide.
7. THE F.U.'s - 'Rock'n'Roll Mutha' - Xclaim 12" - USA - 1982
Another track from the 'Kill For Christ' E.P. The slow/fast/slow formula always works.
8. ADRENALIN O.D. - 'Suburbia' - Buy Our Records 7" - USA - 1983
Or just keep it fast. From their first record, the 'Let's Barbecue' E.P. 'Mow the lawn, take out the trash, go in mom's pocketbook and take her cash'. Life was simple in New Jersey. 30 years later it still sounds mighty similar.
9. THE MISFITS - 'Queen Wasp.' - Plan 9 LP - USA - 1983
Another B-movie belter from 'Earth A.D.' Of course, if you google the lyrics they've all got the first line wrong. It should be: 'Vamp-queen girl gonna strike to kill, better fix your vertebrae, with a kiss of poisoned love, well I'm a king and you're a queen, queen wasp go, dive in warrior wasps, queen wasp go!'
10. MISSION OF BURMA - 'That's When I Reach For My Revolver' - Ace Of Hearts 12" - USA - 1981
Time to chill out a little with a subtle-but-powerful downbeat composition which was the opening track from the 'Signals, Calls and Marches' E.P. 'Tonight the sky is empty, but that is nothing new, its dead eyes look upon us and they tell me we're nothing but slaves'. Here's a cool more recent live version.
11. THE ADOLESCENTS - 'It's Tattoo Time' - Triple X LP - USA - 1988
The best track from 'Balboa Fun Zone' despite the introductory line being complete rubbish.
12. THE NECROS - 'Conquest For Death' - Touch And Go LP - USA - 1983
From the (pretty short) album of the same name. The album itself doesn't really get going, it was obviously a transition piece and indeed their next record was pretty bad heavy metal, but at least there were a couple of standouts on this one.
13. THE F.U.'s - 'What You Pay For' - Xclaim 12" - USA - 1983
The opening track from the 'My America' E.P. or mini-album or whatever you wanna call it. Quite a thrasher.
14. THE MISFITS - 'Devilock' - Plan 9 LP - USA - 1983
A third track from 'Earth A.D.' 'Gonna make it public, gonna make you pay, gonna rip your skull out'. Ouch.
15. ADRENALIN O.D. - 'Old People Talk Loud' - Buy Our Records 7" - USA - 1983
Another short blast of hilarity from 'Let's Barbecue'. Their grandparents must have been so proud.
16. MARGINAL MAN - 'Shades Of Reason' - Gasatanka LP - USA - 1985
From their second album 'Double Image'. Modern day live version here.
17. THE OUTPATIENTS - 'Push-Button Warfare' - Self-released tape - USA - 1983
From the 'Basement Tape', re-issued on the 'Hardcore Outcasts Revisited '82-'84 CD. The music overtakes the vocals at times but the energy is undeniable.
18. THE MISFITS - 'Death Comes Ripping.' - Plan 9 LP - USA - 1983
A fourth hunk of gore from 'Earth A.D.'
19. THE F.U.'s - 'Unite Or Lose' - Xclaim 12" - USA - 1983
Another track from the 'My America' E.P.
20. THE MISFITS - 'Die Die My Darling' - Plan 9 12" - USA - 1984
The last studio release before Danzig left to form Samhain. Ironic that he broke up the Misfits to progress musically and yet the Samhain records just don't seem to have the same spark. 'Don't cry to me, oh baby, your future's in an oblong box'.
21. ADRENALIN O.D. - 'House Husband' - Buy Our Records 7" - USA - 1983
A third track from 'Let's Barbecue'.
22. THE F.U.'s - 'We're An American Band' - Xclaim 12" - USA - 1983
The closing track from the 'My America' E.P. This Grand Funk Railroad composition get's covered by every other band in America. Good job it's a decent song.
23. MARGINAL MAN - 'Double Image' - Gasatanka LP - USA - 1985
The title track from the album of the same name.
24. M.D.C. - 'Chicken Squawk' - R Radical 7" - USA - 1984
A vegetarian anthem from the 'Millions of Dead Children' 3-track E.P. Myself, I'm more impressed with the banjo playing and the excellent Foghorn Leghorn impression.
25. THE NECROS - 'Friend To All' - Touch And Go LP - USA - 1983
And finally, another from 'Conquest For Death'.
