The Best of Brought To Life - 374

1. THE ADVERTS - 'The Adverts'
'Cast Of Thousands' - RCA LP - UK - 1979
The Adverts second album didn't go down too well. The songs were there but generally I don't think the piano added anything and they split up shortly afterwards.
2. UNDERACHIEVERS - 'Underfoot'
'Underfoot' - Throbbing Lobster LP - USA - 1986
Their sole release. They probably got sick of everyone comparing them to X.
3. EPPU NORMAALI - 'Kaljanlanttauslaulu'
'Maximum Jee & Jee' - Poko LP - Finland - 1979
OK, so it nicks the riff from 'Suzy Is A Headbanger' but that was very common with early Finnish punk, and it's not a bad one to use, is it?
4. HEAVY DISCIPLINE - 'Corporate Compassion'
'Liberation Of Economics' - Real World 7" - UK - 1987
My first release as a record label. This track railed against apartheid and encouraged boycotts and sanctions. Far more effective than Facebook shares.
5. NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH - 'Vicious Circle'
'Death At The Hands Of Time' - Real World 7" - Canada - 1987
I crossed the Atlantic for my second release. Well, not physically, I mean they probably wouldn't have let me in. Anyway, this one's about ageism. Good to see them still playing shows almost 30 years later. They'll be viewing the song from a whole new perspective now. Facebook page here.

6. THE DISTURBED - 'Don't Be Used'
''This Is Credibility' - Real World 7" - UK - 1988
Well, we may as well have three in a row. These lads are still bashing it out too. Check out their Facebook page.

7. THE POST RAISIN BAND - 'Pink Lincoln'
'Red Snerts - The Sound Of Gulcher' - Gulcher LP - USA - 1981
Time to revisit this nifty little album which showcased the musical delights of Indiana. Who knew?
8. UNDERACHIEVERS - 'Short Wave'
'Underfoot' - Throbbing Lobster LP - USA - 1986
9. DEBAUCHERY - 'Code Of Silence'
'No Frontiers' - Looney Tunes 7" - UK - 1989
From the sixth Real World E.P that never was. From just up the road in Tyneside.
10. THE ADVERTS - 'Love Songs'
'Cast Of Thousands' - RCA LP - UK - 1979
11. PHIL HUNDLEY - '30 Second Affair'
'Red Snerts - The Sound Of Gulcher' - Gulcher LP - USA - 1981
I make it 28 seconds. Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
12. EPPU NORMAALI - 'Science Fiction'
'Maximum Jee & Jee' - Poko LP - Finland - 1979
13. UNDERACHIEVERS - 'I'm So Tall'
'Underfoot' - Throbbing Lobster LP - USA - 1986
14. HEAVY DISCIPLINE - 'Extreme Mutilation Increases'
'Liberation Of Economics' - Real World 7" - UK - 1987
15. NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH - 'Mr Christian'
'Death At The Hands Of Time' - Real World 7" - Canada - 1987
'See the light every Sunday, Foster Grants are back on Monday'. Really love that line. Must remember to blog some of their early demos.
16. THE DISTURBED - 'Death Lust'
'This Is Credibility' - Real World 7" - UK - 1988
Some of their demos will be aired soon too.
17. BAY ROOT - 'Out And Down'
'Red Snerts - The Sound Of Gulcher' - Gulcher LP - USA - 1981
18. THE ADVERTS - 'Male Assault'
'Cast Of Thousands' - RCA LP - UK - 1979
19. UNDERACHIEVERS - 'Friend O' Mine'
'Underfoot' - Throbbing Lobster LP - USA - 1986
20. THE ZERO BOYS - 'New Generation'
'Red Snerts - The Sound Of Gulcher' - Gulcher LP - USA - 1981
Different to the version on 'Vicious Circle'.
21. EPPU NORMAALI - 'Pidetään Ikävää'
'Maximum Jee & Jee' - Poko LP - Finland - 1979
22. ADVANCE WARNING - 'Blitz'
'No Frontiers' - Looney Tunes 7" - UK - 1989
A relatively short-lived band from Durham.
23. THE JETSONS - 'I Bet Not'
'Red Snerts - The Sound Of Gulcher' - Gulcher LP - USA - 1981
24. THE ADVERTS - 'Fate Of Criminals'
'Cast Of Thousands' - RCA LP - UK - 1979
25. HEAVY DISCIPLINE - 'Symbol Of Capitalism'
'EMI Demo' - Contraband cassette - UK - 1986
26. NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH - 'Time To Care'
Live in Fredericton - Canada - 1988
And a whole live show from the previous year here.
27. THE DISTURBED - 'Warfare'
'Fight Back' - Endangered Musik compilation 7" - UK - 1986
28. EPPU NORMAALI - 'Kuolleet Kakarat'
'Maximum Jee & Jee' - Poko LP - Finland - 1979
29. THE ADVERTS - 'Cast Of Thousands'
'Cast Of Thousands' - RCA LP - UK - 1979
The piano actually works on this one.
