1. PELLE MILJOONA & 1980 - 'TV'
'Pelko Ja Viha' - Love LP - Finland - 1979
This motley crew were prone to altering their name every five minutes, but they did have a guitarist called 'Rubberduck Jones' which renders everything else excusable. From their first album as '1980'.
2. THE BLEACH BOYS - 'Chloroform'
Single - Tramp 7" - UK - 1978
'Remember the days when it was warm?' Well, no, not really. Great name for a band though and this is their wonderfully lo-fi debut single from way back when. Glue be damned. 'C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-Chloroform!' Clearly the inspiration for Queens Of The Stone Age's 'Feel Good Hit Of The Summer'. You read it here first.
3. THE CUNTS - 'My Baby's An Atomic Bomb'
'Look Out!' - Disturbing LP - USA - 1991
The opening track from their second proper album if you disregard compilations and re-issues and stuff. Great sleeve on this one. I'll include some classic B-sides later.
4. THE SINATRAS - 'Teddy Crashes, Blond Dies'
Single - Congressional 7" - USA - 1979
I once thought that the song title was better than the actual song, but it's steadily grown on me over the years and it does have that suitably trashy sound that I know you all love, so here it is, finally, in all its glory. Their sole release (before the obligatory Rave Up retrospective, of course).
5. BREZHNEV - 'Fun'
'Fun' - Brezhnev 7" - Netherlands - 1991
One of those punk-as-fuck Amsterdam bands in the vein of the Gospelfuckers / Agent Orange.
6. NOLLA NOLLA NOLLA - 'Anna Mennä Vaan'
Demo - Finland - 1981
Recorded at a rehearsal session and available on the 'Tänään Täällä, Huomenna Poissa ' CD.
7. PETE THE MEAT & THE BOYS - 'Look What She's Doing'
Demo - UK - 1978
This fine song (along with their other 2 demos) was actually released on the Stortbeat double CD 'A Musical Collective' in 2004. If it sounds familiar, the guitarist went on to join Eddie and The Hot Rods and took this song with him.
8. STALAG - 'Secrets'
Single - Studio Isis 7" - France - 1981
From Bordeaux. They only released one single but there's demos and live stuff knocking about so I'll see what I can find for a later sampler.
9. PELLE MILJOONA & 1980 - 'Helsinki'
'Pelko Ja Viha' - Love LP - Finland - 1979
Another track from 'Pelko'.
10. THE SINATRAS - 'Some Other Boys'
Flipside of 'Teddy Crashes . . .' - Congressional 7" - USA - 1979
A song of teen angst. Sorta reminds me of a sloppier Pagans . . .
11. DIVISION 4 - 'She's Just Not Anybody'
'On The Beat' - Self-released 7" - Australia - 1982
A nice little cover of a Dovers single from 1966.
12. THE CUNTS - 'There Are Electrical Filaments On My Hamburger'
Flipside of 'A Date With Disaster' - Disturbing 7" - USA - 1982
Great title and a Cramps-like intro before it lurches into their own brand of warped '60s psychedelia.
13. NOLLA NOLLA NOLLA - 'Mä Vihaan'
Demo - Finland - 1981
Another rehearsal recording from the triple zero guys.
14. THE LATEST - 'Red Lips'
Single - Self-released 7" - USA - 1981
Their sole release. For the flipside go here.
15. THE RAVERS - 'Have I The Right'
'(It's Gonna Be A) Punk Rock Christmas' - Rhino 12" - USA - 1978
There's nothing like a raucous rendition of an old sixties classic.
16. THE SINATRAS - 'Sweet Little French Teens'
Demo - USA - 1979
This pervy sort of song was perfectly acceptable in the '70s. Different times my friend . . .
17. BREZHNEV - 'Baldwig'
'Fun' - Brezhnev 7" - Netherlands - 1991
More prime riffage from their first E.P. Here's what they look and act like in the flesh.
18. PELLE MILJOONA & 1980 - 'Automaatti'
'Pelko Ja Viha' - Love LP - Finland - 1979
A third track from their debut album.
19. THE CUNTS - 'Turn Of Night'
Flipside of 'Apocalyptic Breakfast' - Disturbing 7" - USA - 1984
The a-side has the better title but it just don't sound as good. You can listen to it here.
20. THE BLEACH BOYS - 'You've Got Nothing'
Flipside of 'Chloroform' - Tramp 7" - UK - 1978
'Leave us alone or we'll scratch out your eyes . . .' Meeow!!!
21. THE RUDIES - 'Macho Man'
Flipside of 'Sherri Goodbye' - Badge 7" - UK - 1980
There's nothing quite like a Village People cover. If you must hear the A-side, go here.
22. STALAG - 'Date Limite De Vente'
Flipside of 'Secrets' - Studio Isis 7" - France - 1981
Though it's actually the title of the record I can confirm that this track really is the B-side. As if anyone actually gives a tiny rat's ass . . .
23. BREZHNEV - 'Cockflakes'
'Fun' - Brezhnev 7" - Netherlands - 1991
A third track with a wonderful title from their debut E.P.
24. THE SINATRAS - 'You Got Me'
Demo - USA - 1979
Some hilarious Elvis-like vocals on the chorus of this one.
25. PELLE MILJOONA & 1980 - 'Yhdistytään'
'Pelko Ja Viha' - Love LP - Finland - 1979
A song of unity, a third selection from 'Pelko'.
26. NOLLA NOLLA NOLLA - '1981'
Demo - Finland - 1981
And a third rehearsal recording from 'Tänään Täällä'.
27. THE CUNTS - 'Penguins Addicted To Molasses'
Flipside of 'We're Going To Crash' - Disturbing 7" - USA - 1980
'Bad luck is my name . . .' Mine too.
28. PELLE MILJOONA & 1980 - 'Natsit Natsit'
'Pelko Ja Viha' - Love LP - Finland - 1979
A fourth track from 'Pelko', and yes, Natsit = Nazis.
29. THE SINATRAS - 'Happy Feeling'
Single - Dining Out 7" - UK - 1980
Just to confuse you all, this is a different Sinatras. This lot were from Leicester, England. Their debut single, which is probably the best thing they ever did.
30. THE POGUES - 'Body Of An American'
'Poguetry In Motion' - Stiff 12" E.P. - UK - 1986
If you're not a Pogues fan but you're very familiar with this song, they used to play it every time there was a copper's funeral on 'The Wire'. And if you've never seen 'The Wire' then it's high time you did.
