The Best of Brought To Life - 170

1. THE BAD BRAINS - 'I Against I' - SST LP - USA - 1986
Disappointing album. Apart from this track, the energy had gone. And the hypocrisy remained.
2. THE DAYGLO ABORTIONS - 'I Want To Be An East Indian' - Sharpe LP - Canada - 1981
Not everyone 'gets' this song, though to be fair, some of the terms used can be pretty objectionable unless you've got your warped Dayglo head on, which isn't the most highbrow of stances. Anyway, their hearts were in the right place, if not their heads.
3. BETON COMBO - 'High On War' - Sound LTD 7" - Germany - 1983
From their only 7" which was straddled by two decent albums.
4. BLACK FLAG - 'Wasted' - SST 7" - USA - 1978
One from their debut 'Nervous Breakdown' E.P.
5. WHITE RUSSIA - 'Me, I'm Not Paranoid' - Aladin 7" - Germany - 1981
Cold war paranoia or something much deeper?
6. THE RIVALS - 'Standing Ovation' - Demo - UK - 1979
Available on the Detour/Bin Liner CD 'If Only'.
7. SEPTIC DEATH - 'Never Trust' - Pusmort 12" - USA - 1984
After Pushead's distinctive artwork and record reviews came Septic Death, the sonic expression of his nightmares. This is from their debut 'Need So Much Attention' E.P.
8. THE CHILD MOLESTERS - 'You Make Me Sick' - Demo - USA - 1979
Normally I don't get off on these lengthy dirges but this one is so funny, evoking the image of a bunch of drunken rednecks neckin' 'shine on the porch while dissin' those dumb ass punk rockers at will. I'm there! Finally released in the '90s on the Legendary Brown Album which should be a part of everyone's record collection.
9. SQUIRE - 'Livin' In The City' - Rok LP - UK -1979
Something a little more lively now. From the 'Odd Bods, Mods and Sods' compilation.
10. THE SURF PUNKS - 'My Beach' - Day-Glo LP - USA - 1979
The opening track from their debut album. Very funny, for a while. Live on New Wave Theater here.
11. THE PLAGUE - 'Out With Me All Night' - Evolution 7" - UK - 1980
Their second and final single, available on Bin Liner's 'X-Tapes' LP/CD.
12. THE SPLIT SCREENS - 'Know What I Want'Rok LP - UK -1979
Another track from 'Odd Bods, Mods and Sods'.
13. THE FIX - 'Candy Store' - Demo - USA - 1981
Available on the 'Cold Days' retro LP/CD.
14. SEPTIC DEATH - 'Negative Threat'Pusmort 12" - USA - 1984
Another track from 'Need So Much Attention'.
15. SHAM 69 - 'I Don't Wanna' - Step Forward 7" - UK - 1977
Haven't had much Sham on the blog so far. It all started with this single.
16. THE AKRYLYKZ - 'Ska'd For Life' - Polydor 7" - UK - 1980
The superior flipside of second single 'J.D.'
17. THE RIVALS - 'Lucy' - Demo - UK - 1979
Another demo available on 'If Only'.
18. THE CHILD MOLESTERS - 'Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking For Her Hand In The Snow)' - Demo - USA - 1979
Another from the Legendary Brown Album. And, yes, it's a Plastic Ono Band cover.
19. THE SEX BEATLES - 'Well You Never . . . .' - Charly 7" - UK - 1979
A one-off single. Read the whole story here.
20. DEVO - 'Be Stiff' - Stiff 7" - USA - 1978
One of their early singles. And it's not about the label!
21. SEPTIC DEATH - 'Kichigai' - Pusmort 7" - USA - 1988
'I remember the puppet's reflection as I looked deep into my eyes . . .'  Some dark horror themes on this one. 'Kichigai' is Japanese for 'crazy' if you hadn't already guessed. Love the part where the guitar plays a twisted version of the Munsters theme.
22. THE RIVVITS - 'Saturday Night At The Dance' - The Alien Record Co. - UK - 1978
Enough of these nightmares, let's dance!
23. THE DAYGLO ABORTIONS - 'Dogfarts' - Fringe Product LP - Canada - 1986
One from the belated second album 'Feed Us A Fetus'.
24. BETON COMBO - 'Zubrovka' - Sound LTD 7" - Germany - 1983
Another track from their 7".
25. THE FIX - 'Famous' - Demo - USA - 1981
And another demo available on 'Cold Days'.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. THE PLAGUE - 'Er!'
27. SEPTIC DEATH - 'Fear'
28. THE RIVALS - 'Good Times'
29. THE CHILD MOLESTERS - 'Snake-Eyed Donkey, Fish-Eyed Snake'
