1. SYSTEMATIC DEATH - 'Step' - Systema Project 7" - Japan - 1988
My favourite Systematic Death tune from the E.P. of the same name. Can you call any thrash track a 'tune'? Well, I just did.
2. THE POGUES - 'The
Sickbed Of Cuchulainn' - Stiff LP - UK -1985
You know exactly what you're getting with The Pogues, either a drunken upbeat Irish jig or a slow, heartbreaking ballad. This is one of the former. From second album 'Rum, Sodomy & The Lash'.
3. BELUGA AND THE HUMAN
ASHTRAYS - 'Mars Needs Women' - Howard Peluso Productions 7" - USA - 1979
From Ireland to Mars! Their only single (that I know of).
4. THE YODLER KILLERS - 'Jacot Masturbette' - Zaki 7" - Switzerland - 1979
If they were rubbish I'd still have included a track by a band with such a great name.
5. GAUZE - 'Power' - ADK LP - Japan - 1985
More Japanese mayhem, this time from the first Gauze record 'Fuck Heads'.
6. THE DICKIES - 'You're
So Hideous' - Demo - USA - 1977
A couple of early demos now. This one's slower than the vinyl version but provides extra menace as a result.
7. CRIME - 'San
Francisco's Doomed' - Demo - USA - 1978
Available on various retro compilations with a similar name.
8. PETER BERGER - 'My Sex
Is Bad' - Musk Project 7" - Switzerland - 1979
Mine too! I think this was his only single.
9. THE ONLY ONES - 'Lovers Of Today' - Vengeance 7" - UK - 1977
The debut single by very much a singles band, not that they were that prolific.
10. MORRIS AND THE MINORS
- 'Emily' - Round 7" - UK - 1979
The lead (and best) track from their sole E.P. which was called 'State The Obvious'.
11. THE POGUES - 'Sally
MacLennane' - Stiff LP - UK -1985
Another upbeat jig from 'Rum, Sodomy & The Lash'. Live on The Tube here.
12. CRIME - 'Feel The Beat' - Demo - USA - 1978
Another raw 1978 demo.
13. THE DICKIES - 'You
Drive Me Ape (You Big Gorilla)' - Demo - USA - 1977
Followed by another from the demo that got them signed to A&M. Here, have a zany short clip.
14. THE GOOD SAMARITANS - 'Dotted Line' - Self-Released 7" - USA - 1980
Straight from The Sound Of Music, you might think. Their only single.
15. GAUZE - 'Fuckhead' - ADK LP - Japan - 1985
Another blast from 'Fuck Heads'.
16. THE FRESHIES - 'No
Money' - Razz 7" - UK - 1980
Worth it for the fantastic intro alone. Their fourth single.
17. THE DICKIES - 'Walk
Like An Egg' - Demo - USA - 1977
'Yankee shake a leg!'
18. CRIME - 'Piss On Your
Dog' - Demo - USA - 1978
Are they taking the piss out of Iggy here, or what?
19. SYSTEMATIC DEATH - 'Sink You' - Systema Project 7" - Japan - 1988
That last one was a bit slow . . . but not this.
20. DIETER MEIER - 'Jim
For Tango' - Periphery Perfume 7" - Switzerland - 1978
Totally different from his blistering debut 'Cry For Fame' but abrasive enough for an airing here.
21. THE ONLY ONES - 'You've Got To Pay' - CBS 7" - UK - 1979
Their third single, which had the misfortune of having to follow 'Another Girl Another Planet'.
22. THE DRONES - 'Can't
See' - Fabulous 7" - UK - 1980
Another third single, different from their previous stuff but a fine song nonetheless.
23. THE POGUES - 'Billy's
Bones' - Stiff LP - UK -1985
A third from 'Rum, Sodomy & The Lash'.
24. THE GOOD SAMARITANS - 'Nightmares Theme' - Self-Released 7" - USA - 1980
Definitely not from The Sound Of Music. A scary instrumental and the flipside of 'Dotted Line'.
25. GAUZE - 'Go' - ADK LP - Japan - 1985
And a third from 'Fuck Heads'.
***BONUS TRACKS***

You're OK'

Girl'
