The Best of Brought To Life - 135

1. INFERNO - 'Wodka' -  Müllemeier LP - Germany - 1984
The opening track from debut album 'Tod & Wahnsinn'.
2. FDS - 'Arabien' - Self-released 7" - Sweden - 1980
From their sole 'Paranoia' E.P. You can almost smell the desert.
3. AGENT ORANGE - 'America' - Agent Orange 7" - USA - 1980
One from the flipside of debut 7" 'Bloodstains'.
4. KOHU-63 - 'Synti' - Poko 7" - Finland - 1981
And another debut release, from the 'Pelimannimusaa' E.P.
5. THE MONKS - 'Johnny B. Rotten' - EMI 7" - UK - 1979
Debut single? Of course! A punk piss-take, but slightly amusing.
6. THE CIRCLE JERKS - 'Wild In The Streets' - Posh Boy LP - USA - 1980
From the first 'Rodney On The Roq' album - a track which Posh Boy put out as an etched 1-sided white vinyl single in 1990.
7. DENNIS THE MENACE - 'Go Go Wah Wah' - Self-released 7" - USA - 1980
From their sole E.P. From Cincinnati, Ohio. Nice contast of dungarees and cellophane on the sleeve.
8. THE INSERTS - 'Doctors' Wives' - Classified 7" - USA - 1981
Another great solo release. Read more here.
9. THE STARJETS - 'War Stories' - Epic 7" - UK - 1979
Third single which even made Top Of The Pops.
10. NOLLA NOLLA NOLLA - 'Silminnäkijä' - Maaemo Levyt 7" - Finland - 1981
From debut E.P. 'Oodeja Simasuille', a nice 5-tracker.
11. THE BIG BOYS - 'Frat Cars' - Big Boys 7" - USA - 1980
Austin, Texas legends. Their debut 7", naturally.
12. APPENDIX - 'Huorra' - Propaganda 7" - Finland - 1983
Their first 7" though they'd already released an album the previous year.
13. THE EXIT - 'Who Asked You?' - City Rock 7" - UK - 1979
Sole release until a retro E.P was released recently on Permanent Records.
14. CAPTAIN SENSIBLE &THE SOFTIES - 'Jet Boy Jet Girl' - Poker 7" - Netherlands - 1978
Recorded after the first Damned split.
15. KSMB - 'Tidens Tempo' - MNW 7" - Sweden - 1980
The umpteenth debut release on this sampler. From the Stockholm area. The name stands for Kurt-Sunes Med Berit, if that means anything to you.
16. FRAEBBBLARNIR - 'Critical Bullshit' - Falkinn 7" - Iceland - 1981
From their second E.P. 'Bjor'. Where else do you find 3 'B's in a row?
17. THE VOPO'S - 'I'm So Glad The King Is Dead' - Red Lux 7" - Netherlands - 1980
Debut 7", from Zwolle. Rumour has it they later went metal but I steer well clear of that sorta stuff.
18. D.O.A. - 'The Prisoner' - Quintessence 7" - Canada - 1978
One of their early releases. Still going strong to this day. Here's a nice vintage performance.
19. THE VEINS - 'Lose Control To Rock 'n' Roll' - Redball 7" - UK - 1979
Second single. From Stoke.
20. THE BIG BOYS - 'Movies' - Big Boys 7" - USA - 1980
Another from the 'Frat Cars' E.P.
21. THE EDGE - 'Newport Gestapo' - Smear 7" - USA - 1983
The final track from their excellent 'Death To A.O.R.' E.P.
22. THE MONKS - 'Drugs In My Pocket' - EMI 7" - UK - 1979
The flipside of 'Johnny B. Rotten'.
23. DENNIS THE MENACE - '1980s' - Self-released 7" - USA - 1980
Another track from their sole E.P.
24. APPENDIX - 'Eliittipiiri' - Propaganda 7" - Finland - 1983
And another from their 'Huorra' E.P.
25. INFERNO - 'Sohn Gottes' - Rise & Fall 7" - Germany - 1985
Their first 7" after a couple of cassettes and an album. I saw this lot rip-up Ferryhill Kings Head back in the day, y' know. Shame there was a single-figure crowd. An 'Injustice' doesn't quite describe it.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. AGENT ORANGE - 'Bored Of You'
27. NOLLA NOLLA NOLLA - 'Leikin Loppu'
28. INFERNO - 'Steinkopf'
29. DENNIS THE MENACE - 'Working Girls'
30. THE EXIT - 'Out On The Street'
31. KOHU 63 - 'Paavola'
32. INFERNO - 'Administration'

  1. This is a fun one. Love Dennis the Menace and the Edge--never heard of either. (Surprised about the Edge--looks like they had a 7" on Throbbing Lobster a couple years later, and I thought I knew that label backwards and forwards.) Do you have the Veins B-side? Any good? Keep 'em coming--these are both cool and edge-ucational... Best, D

    1. Hi Dan, yeah Dennis The Menace was a complete surprise when I heard it. The Veins B-side is OK but I no longer have the original BTL discs, just the 'Best Of's'. Frank over at Shotgun Solution posted the whole disc a few years ago so try him: http://shotgunsolution.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/veins-lose-control-to-rock-n-roll.html
