The Best of Brought To Life - 114

1. THE NEGATIVZ - 'Mental Case' - Demo - UK - 1983
This lot were originally The Negatives who released one single before modifying the name. It takes a minute or so to get going but once it does it's full-on punk rock. Released on a CD if you can find it. More here.
2. JOY DIVISION - 'At A Later Date' - Virgin 10" - UK - 1978
From the 'Short Circuit - Live at the Electric Circus' comp. More of a Warsaw song than Joy Division but they'd changed their name by the time this came out.
3. THE LIZARDS - 'Herätkää! Vartiotorni Kaatuu!' - Poko LP - Finland - 1981
From their only album, though there were 3 singles and another 2 previously as Liz And Lizards.
4. SATAN'S RATS - 'Year Of The Rats' - DJM 7" - UK - 1978
3rd and final single before getting a better-looking singer and morphing into the Photos.
5. THE WEIRDOS - 'Destroy All Music' -Bomp! 7" - USA - 1977
Their debut single, the title of which sorta contradicts the very idea of being in a band, but you get the idea. Live here.
6. KORO - '700 Club' - Self-released 7" - USA - 1983
This one has a steady start before hitting the gas and becoming hyper-thrash for the whole 8 tracks. Their sole vinyl, though there was a expanded CD release in 2006.
7. THE LULLABIES - 'Cops In The Streets' - Rock Against Records 7" - Netherlands - 1981
The lead track out of 9 from their second and final E.P.
8. C.I.A. - 'Love And War' - Shmegma 7" - USA - 1983
One from their 'Gods, Guts, Guns' E.P.
9. THE FIX - 'In This Town' - Touch And Go 7" - USA - 1981
The flipside of 'Vengeance'. 'Is the tape rolling yet?'
10. JOHN COOPER CLARKE – '(You Never See A Nipple In The) Daily Express' - Virgin 10" - UK - 1978
Another from 'Short Circuit - Live at the Electric Circus'. He was always better without the distraction of music.
11. THE NEGATIVZ - 'Us And Them' - Demo - UK - 1983
Another goodie from their 1983 demo.
12. SEEMS TWICE - 'Anglican War' - Doublethink 7" - Australia - 1980
'Non-Plussed' was a strange little E.P. It sounded half-arsed and made-up-on-the-spot for most of the 12 tracks but this final song was almost tuneful.
13. THE RHYTHM PIGS - 'The Guest' - Unclean 7" - USA - 1984
Another from the classic 'An American Activity' E.P.
14. THE WEIRDOS - 'Why Do You Exist?' - Bomp! 7" - USA - 1977
The best track of the 3 from their debut E.P.
15. THE DRONES - 'Persecution Complex' - Virgin 10" - UK - 1978
Another from 'Short Circuit' - sounds so much better than the studio version.
16. THE AU PAIRS - 'Domestic Departure' - 021 7" - UK - 1979
The most off-kilter track from their debut 7" but full of post-punk spikiness.
17. THE LULLABIES - 'I'm A Junk' - Rock Against Records 7" - Netherlands - 1981
Another track from their second E.P.
18. THE NEGATIVZ - 'Bradford' - Demo - UK - 1983
A third track from their demo. From Bradford y'know, like Danamuuh.
19. THE LIZARDS - 'Turvattu Tulevaisuus' - Poko LP - Finland - 1981
Another goodie from their album, though I could do without the sax.
20. PUNISHMENT OF LUXURY - 'Let's Get Married / You're So Beautiful' - Peel Session - UK - 1978
Not the best quality sound-wise but, hey, it's unreleased Punnilux! Anyone got a better copy?
21. JOHN COOPER CLARKE - 'I Married A Monster From Outer Space' - Virgin 10" - UK - 1978
Another from 'Short Circuit'. I'm assuming it's about a failed relationship. Let me know, John.
22. THE FIX - 'Truth Right Now' - Touch And Go 7" - USA - 1981
One from the 'Jan's Rooms' E.P.
23. THE XTRAVERTS - '1984' - Xtraverts 7" - UK - 1981
From their 3rd and final single. The best track they ever recorded.
24. PUNISHMENT OFLUXURY - 'Gasman' - Red Rhino LP - UK - 1983
From their second album '7'. Mainly included here because it didn't appear on the Overground CDs.
25. THE FALL - 'Last Orders' - Virgin 10" - UK - 1978
And a fifth from 'Short Circuit'.
***BONUS TRACKS***
26. KORO - 'Blap!'
27. PUNISHMENT OFLUXURY - 'Funk Me' (Peel session)
28. THE NEGATIVZ - 'Obvious'
29. PUNISHMENT OFLUXURY - 'Babalon' (Peel session)
30. THE BUZZCOCKS - 'Time's Up'
