Slightly more controversial than the L.A. band of the same name. One of 4 tracks of mayhem on this, their first E.P.
2. THE FREEZE - 'Warped Confessional' - Modern Method LP - USA - 1985
From their second album 'Rabid Reaction' which, understandably, didn't have quite the same impact as 'Land Of The Lost'.
3. THE SKIDS - 'Working For The Yankee Dollar' - Virgin 7" - UK - 1979
Their 7th 7", available as a double single. Video here.
4. D.O.A. - 'New Age' - Friends LP - Canada - 1980
Opening track from debut album 'Something Better Change'. It was no 'Hardcore '81'. Live version here.
5. A5 - 'Reeperbahn' - No Fun 7" - Germany - 1980
From Bremen. This was the first track on their 'Erst Ausgabe' E.P.
6. DAFNE & THE TENDERSPOTS - 'I'm A Natural' - MAM 7" - UK - 1979
The B-side of sole single 'Disco Hell'. Apparently, they split up after a disagreement about who owned their PA system.
7. AGENT ORANGE - 'Herpes' - New Wave 7" - Holland - 1983
Though still thrashy enough, the second Agent Orange E.P. sounded slightly more refined and appeared on the Parisian label New Wave. Sometimes called the 'V.D.E.P.' and sometimes called 'Hello Boyfriend, Coming My Way?' Either way, it's a groin-clencher.
8. THE SKIDS - 'Charade' - Virgin 7" - UK -1979
6th 7". No coloured vinyl, no double singles, no gimmicks. Video here.
9. THE FREEZE - 'Misguided Memories' - Modern Method LP - USA - 1985
Another track from 'Rabid Reaction'.
10. NO MEANS NO - 'Bodybag' - Undergrowth 12" - Canada - 1985
After a few experimental self-released records a few years previously No Means No came back with a vengeance in 1985 with this tight, well-played and recorded 5-track E.P. Alternative Tentacles revived it in '91.
11. AGENT ORANGE - 'K.K.K.' - New Wave 7" - Holland - 1983
Another from the 'Hello Boyfriend' E.P.
12. A5 - 'Spruch' - No Fun 7" - Germany - 1980
Another goodie from the 'Erst Ausgabe' E.P.
13. ANTI-CIMEX - 'Desperate Hours' - Malign Massacre 7" - Sweden - 1984
The opening track from their 3rd E.P. 'Victims Of A Bomb Raid'. Much cleaner than the first 2 E.P.s and yet as powerful as any.
14. AGENT ORANGE - 'Dope' - New Wave 7" - Holland - 1983
A third from the 'Hello Boyfriend' E.P. 'A hand full of dope and a nose full of speed, dangerous drugs are all we fuckin' need'. Quite.
15. THE SKIDS - 'The Olympian' - Virgin LP - UK - 1979
One of the better tracks from second album 'Days In Europa'. Those quirky themes that were often present in Skids songs, however, were by now bordering on the pretentious.
16. NO MEANS NO - 'Manic Depression' - Undergrowth 12" - Canada - 1985
A mad Hendrix cover now from the 'Bodybag' E.P. They take it to another level.
17. AGENT ORANGE - 'Kill The Police' - New Wave 7" - Holland - 1983
OK. It's that good we may as well have the other track from the 'Hello Boyfriend' E.P.
18. D.O.A. - 'Get Out Of My Life' - Friends LP - Canada - 1980
Another track from 'Something Better Change'. Early live version here.
19. ANTI-CIMEX - 'Victims Of A Bomb Raid' - Malign Massacre 7" - Sweden - 1984
The title track from the E.P. of the same name.
20. AGENT ORANGE - 'Factory' - Demo - Holland - 1985
The singer (!) from Jesus and the Gospelfuckers joined Agent Orange so it was only natural to demo some of their old songs.
21. ANTI-CIMEX - 'Set Me Free' - Malign Massacre 7" - Sweden - 1984
A third track from 'Victims Of A Bomb Raid'.
22. THE SKIDS - 'Out Of Town' - Virgin 7" - UK - 1979
B-side of 5th 7" 'Masquerade'. TOTP performance of the A-side here.
23. AGENT ORANGE - 'Dogs' - Demo - Holland - 1985
Another demo of an old Jesus and the Gospelfuckers track.
24. THE FREEZE - 'Before I Hit The Rubber Room' - Modern Method LP - USA - 1985
A third track from 'Rabid Reaction'.
25. AGENT ORANGE - 'Instrumental' - Demo - Holland - 1985
And finally, was this the way Agent Orange would have went had they not imploded? They'd certainly learned how to play. All the Agent Orange stuff was included on a CD called 'Couldn't Care Less' along with the Jesus and the Gospelfuckers demos - released by Kangaroo in 2002.
